Only the Yellow body one left at B&H unless you want a kit with two lens. None at all locally.

Page 232 of the manual indicates not all the function of M mode will work with M and P series lens. The lens I was using is an A series lens and that seems to be ok. I am using firmware version 1.03 currently on all my K-01's.

Also you cannot really use the shutter speed to control light when shooting video. If you can you should always go for a shutter speed of twice the frame rate (30 frames = 1/60 shutter speed). If you can't do that then go for a shutter speed the same as the frame rate. The videos above where shot at a 30 frames per second with a shutter speed of 1/30. That will give the best results. If it's really bright don't increase the shutter speed, increase the F stop or add a Neutral Density filter on the lens.

You must go into Movie mode settings menu and the Exposure mode to M, see page 113 of the manual for more information. I see no evidence it adjusts the ISO when exposure mode is M.

Use the fastest lens you got on the K-01's and keep them wide open. Low lighty is the primary limiting factor with the K-01. I suspect you meant a Canon HFS100, that may cause you trouble if the there is not enough light, not much you can do about that the sensor is quite small in those cams.

I use the K-01 in all manual mode and really old and fast 1.4 50mm lens I had from Pentax Super Program days that I got in the early 80's. They are great lens to shot video with and work well with the K-01. I have used them both on ISO 800 and ISO 1600. Obviously you will get more noise at 1600 but this easily zapped out with Neat Video's noise reduction for video. I also turn off all stabilization. I have seen some weird undulations with video with loud music and stabilization enabled. Tripods are an absolute must. Check your white balance on both and make sure they are the same. There is no doubt you will have to do some Color Matching and Luminance adjustments in post production but that is nature of multicam shoots.

It is always a major advantage getting access to the mixed sound output from the mixer, your Zoom device should be able to plug into most any mixer. Camera sound from the air is just awful. The Zoom device recording from the air will be better but I find they still sound kind of hollow.

And don't forget to Sing, Sing, Sing!

Remote triggering

The reason I am looking for this function is not so much for remote triggering but because of the limited video recording time. If a place a camera in room in a spot I can't get easily when the show starts the K-01 becomes a problem because you only have like 15-16 minutes recording time. Is there any way to get the camera to start recording a new file at the end of that period without having to manual trigger it?

Are they any options for triggering the K-01 remote besides that crappy little IR remote. I would ideally like to have a cluster of them around a room that I can trigger for a central spot in a room when recording a live production. There are products to this with Canon, Nikon, and Sony but I have yet to see any for any Pentax model.

It seems the K-01 is getting short in supply. I see a number of models are now marked discontinued on B&H. Locally the biggest retailers are sold out. I bought the last new K-01 body they had last weekend. It was my second. I am considering getting a third. I find they make great b-roll/alternate angle cameras for video at a very cheap price, $299, and I got lots of old pentax film lens that produce great results with the K-01.

In comparison the clip below was shot under similar lighting and post production conditions with a Pentax K-x. It may be limited to 720P but upresed to 1080p under the right conditions I got some results I really liked but not as clean as the K-01. The sample below was made on the standard 18-55mm kit lens (while cheap still not a bad lenses although not particularly fast).

I have been talking about how impressed with the K-01's video quality I am on this thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-01/217185-loving-k-01-video.html#post2300291

But I think I must mention the Pentax K-x in it's time produced some pretty good quality as well. It may be limited to 720P but upresed to 1080p under the right conditions I got some results I really liked. The sample below was made on the standard 18-55mm kit lens (while cheap still not a bad lenses although not particularly fast).

I record the main mix off the sound production mixer board direct into the Sony FS-100 via dual XLR Cables. I also have an external 5 mic Zoom H-2N recorder an on arm off the Sony FS-100 main tripod to record the sound live in the air and to pickup audience reaction. The sound on the K-01 I use only for syncronization purposes. I could feed the sound in from the mixer to it, but is much easier to feed it to the FS-100 with it's XLR inputs and onboard mixer control.

In post production I mix the FS-100 sound from the main mixer such that it contributes about 80% of the final mix and the forward and back stereo channels in from the Zoom H-2n at 20% of the final mix. This adds some room atmosphere and natural reverb into the sound while maintaing the integrity of the higher quality mixer board sourced sound.

I will take a picture of my setup at the next show in couple weeks so you can see what it all looks like together.

This clip is the K-01 only. I also had the FS-100 running on wide shot. What I generally do is switch back and forth as appropriate when the act requires a large field of view as in a band (as opposed to a soloist). I mix footage for up to 4 different cameras into some videos, using a Pentax K-01, a Pentax K-X, the Sony FS-100 and Sony HC-3.

I did find one thing that seemed a little odd with the K-01. When using it at a rather loud concert once I noticed some vibration in the picture. I disabled all the antishake stuff and I haven't seen again. Perhaps it was responding to all the bass vibration. Don't need antishake anyways.

None of the people I shoot for have yet fiqured it out. The shot does have a few advantages - I color match with the output of the FS-100 which is almost always perfect, and the primary sound channels are off the Fs-100 which has a stereo XLR direct off the the Mixer (it helps to control the enviroment when you are also the sound engineer). I use the FS-100 for a wide shot, and the K-01 for closeups but often I love the richeness of the closeup to much to bother with the wide shot.

Here's another a sample I rather like:

I've been using my K-01 for B-roll, My main camera is a $5500 Sony FS-100. But usually I really love what comes out of the K-01. I think I am going to buy another one. This video was shot with the K-01 with 50mm Pentax 1.4 full frame prime lens that I have had for about 30 years. The K-01 is winner in my opinon.

No it really happened = a few minutes ago. They were so used to seeing the standard old dull looking slr that the unigue look of the K-01 took them by surprise. They really liked it`s look - something quite different. I wasn`t expecting that.

Personally I was surprised how comfortable it is to hold and shoot with, especially based on some of the comments I had read.

I just got my new Pentax K-01 from B&H (back in stock there) and I was talking a few pics in a coffeeshop. Anyways these two hot chicks came up to me and said "I love your new camera", and "It's Sexy". Well you can't argue with that, IT`S SEXY. Any other opinion is irrelevant. What a fantastic piece of technology at an incredible price, and hey it's A CHICK MAGNET, best be getting one before they are all gone.

But this K-5 II has a low pass filter to stop the moire but with the no upgrade to the video options that looks like a silly pointless idea to me.
