The cameras in question was Nikon D5200 and Canon EOS 650D.
Yes Iīve noticed that there are Canon/Nikon bodies with the top dispaly as well.

I am attending a photography class right now every tuesday night and i am the only one using Pentax. It is a step 2 class in DSLR-photography so we are all quite used to our cameras.
But looking at the Canon and Nikon people fiddleling with their cameras trying to set the iso, shutter time, and aperture is really fun when they have to go many steps in to their menus. And nothing seems to be obvious.
But with the K-5 and itīs top display everything is so fast and easy to change, and compared to Canon and Nikon i must say that Pentax is number 1 when it comes to easy handling.

I noticed today that my K-5 change the shutter time itself when i press the shutter button half way.
If I choose say 1/125 s and then press the shutter button half way to focus, the camera change the time to a longer time if it thinks it needs it and use that longer time when I take the Picture.
I thought that when in Tv mode the shutter time is the time that I choose and the camera can only change the aperture.
Do I have some setting wrong or whatīs happened?

There are many settings on the K-5 and i guess all have their favourites. But have you discovered any settings you canīt do without after you have used your camera for a while?
I myself only know maybe what 10% of them do so i would appreciate some tips.

When you push the menu button on the K-5 and go to page 3 you can set something called the Program Line. How do i use this and what does it do?

Ok, I didnīt realize that the fish effect was over the whole range, thought it was just at around 10mm.
Hmmm I will buy it if i get a good deal. the price here in sweden for a new lens is about 780 dollars and that is too much for me just to play with. :)

The focus ring turns smoothly with the right resistance so i guess the lens is broken or just not working with my K-5.
I will let a friend try it on his NEX-6 with a Pentax K-adapter.

No I bought my lens here in sweden. The lens seems to be in very good condition. I can see a slight change in focus when i turn the focus ring.
Itīs like i need some adapter to get the right distance to the sensor?
There are no connections on the lens like those i have on my other lenses.

Hello!
Thought i should try to see if anyone can help me with an old Sitex 28mm f2.8 lens that i bought on e-bay for almost nothing (15$).
The problem is that the lens wonīt focus. No matter how much i turn the focus ring it isnīt even close. Itīs like the focus is just a couple of inches in front of the lens.
I have used several manual lenses before without any problem so my settings should be right, maybe the lens is broken?
The only difference to the other manual lenses iīve used is that this one doesnīt have the "A" mode (can you say that?) on the aperture ring. |

I bought the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 to replace My 18-55 kit lens, but i must spy that i am not happy with it.
Poor build quality, different results all the time, no sharpness, strange shadows. But maybe i have to calibrate it or something?
I later bought the Pentax 18-135 and i must say that i am more happy with that lens. Good pictures all the time. Guess the Tamron is better in dark conditions but otherwise i don't see any benefits with the Tamron.
Now i am aiming for a Sigma 70mm f2.8 Macro :-)

Ok did this operation on my Tamron today. The ring was almost completely loose after only six months use.
The ring above the screws was a bit tricky to remove so have patience. But then it was just to tighten the screws and put the ring back on.
This wasnīt expected and i must say that this is a pretty crappy lens when it comes to buld quality.
