SOS! Does anyone have a Pentax K to Canon EF adapter, in middle PA area?

I'm currently in middle Pennsylvania near Woodward. I brought all my equipment to photograph the eclipse and realized I forgot my Pentax K adapter. I have a Canon 5dmkII and must have misplaced the K to EF adapter. Theres only one camera shop an hour away but they do not have it in stock. Does anyone in a driveable distance from here have one I might be able to use for a few hours?

Or I can just try to rig it... worth a shot

Thanks in advance

determining the focal length a Teleconverter will support?

This is why I love this active community ... thanks all very much for the responses.

This does make sense – and yes I'm aware of the fstop loss. In my case I'm using it for specifically sun + moon shots, so I think it may work well for my purposes – an infinity focus and a bright scene. We have an 800mm f8 mirror lens as well... giving an 2200mm f22 w/ the 3x. In a very brief comparison with the 500mm Quantaray (not a mirror lens) and a 2x TC, I noticed the latter has much better contrast, though I did expect that as a weakness of mirror lenses.

Also I can remote control the camera and use live view focusing at 10x digital zoom, which usually gets me a very sharp shot on other lenses (have never tried this far telephoto before though). I believe these lenses will be capable of getting a sharp shot, provided a good tripod and clear atmosphere

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread. I have long admired this forum and only recently posting.

My question is about teleconverters... is there a way to determine the focal length a TC will support? I noticed in the TC reviews section of the site, many TC pages have notes that it supports up to X focal length. What is the basic math / formula behind this? Is there a way to determine it without actually using it – and what are the cons of using the "wrong one" – will it simply mean it does not focus to infinity?

Recently I've come into possession of a 3x Asanuma auto TC, and also an unbranded 2X TC which came mounted on a 500mm f8 Quantaray lens.

Much thanks

camera metering not correct with M42-EOS adapter

Lowell,

My process for the non-confirmation adapter is pretty simple. I just focus with my eye and shoot. Exposure (light) meter on the camera works correctly. The EXIF data won't be correct, but I don't really care too much about that.

With the focus-confirmation adapter, the EXIF data should be correct, but I'll have to test after I program it.

I came across these rather intimidating instructions:

Dandelion programming instructions

I assume though once programmed, you can only use the adapter for the lens programmed? Meaning a separate adapter would have to be bought for every lens.

Hi everyone,

I have a 5d Mk II and a few M42 lenses (Samyang 28mm f2.8 and some old Sears 135mm f2.8). I have the fotodiox M42 to EOS adapter (Amazon.com: Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter, Black M42 (42mm x1 thread Mount) Lens to Canon EOS DSLR Adapter, fits Canon EOS 1d,1ds,Mark II, III, IV, 5D, MarK II, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, Digital Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi, t1i, t2i, 300D, 350D, 400) which works fine. The camera's light meter picks up the exposure correctly and all is good.

The downside obviously to using the manual lenses is having to focus manually. I thought i might try an adapter that has the Focus Confirmation chip on it (Amazon.com: Fotodiox Pro Chrome V.2 Lens Mount Adapter with Programable Dandelion AF Focus Confirmation Chip, M42 Lens (42mm x1 thread Screw Mount) Lens to Canon EOS cameras, fits Canon EOS 1d,1ds,Mark II, III, IV, X, 5D, MarK II, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, ). I bought this second one. The focus confirmation works, but the metering is all off. It's overexposing my images. I think it has something to do with the programming on the chip? I'm not quite sure how it works. My camera is reading the aperature as "f4" when I have this 2nd adapter on.

New to the forum, looking forward to meeting some other manual lens users.
