Today, I took my Mum and Dad for a picnic lunch next to the river by Finchale Priory, a beautiful set of abbey ruins dating (in parts) as far back as the 13th century, but with many later influences. As usual, we had a little wander round after lunch, and I managed to snap a few pics with my Fujifilm XF1.
These were processed in Lightroom 6, with black and white conversion in either Silver Efex or Analog Efex. I was just playing around with different mono looks and not aiming for a consistent result across all of the shots... |

I have a Sony RX100 Miii that I bought about 8 years ago. It is a truely pocketable camera with a largish sensor, great, fast lens, good tilt screen and a very usable viewfinder. Takes usable video (but only 1080). I rarely use my iPhone for photos even though I have a camera app that can capture the RAW data.

thank you - I'm still tweaking the jpg engine (it is very limited in-camera)...
I have two more modules in mind - the A16 zoom and the A14 M-mount....

You're getting beautiful results from that GXR! I'm sure some of it must be down to your post-processing technique, but the colours are wonderful... quite film-like. I wonder if the other lens / sensor modules produce the same kind of quality...

I failed to mention my RX100 VI. I had the IV but recently my dad decided he wanted the IV and gave me his VI. The IV is why I don’t shoot m43 anymore. I find the quality sufficient to displace the m43 in my gear hierarchy. (Not saying they are the same. But I’m willing to use apsc or ff when the rx100 is insufficient- and carry it when it is sufficient).

Long time since I posted any photos in the forums, not least from a compact camera...
Today, I took my Mum and Dad to the superb "Locomotion" rail museum in Shildon (about 20 miles from home). We've been a couple of times before, but the last was before the pandemic - so we were long overdue another visit. As expected, it didn't disappoint... and despite the schools being on their Summer break, it wasn't horrendously busy either. While there, we enjoyed an almost-obligatory short back-and-forth trip on the excellent replica of Stephenson's Rocket. The smell of steam can't be beat :D
This was taken with my little Fujifilm XF1, then processed in LR6 and Topaz Sharpen AI for a mono "HDR" look. B&W seemed appropriate... |
