After changing a bunch of settings on my K-5 it doesn't want to take a photo when I press the shutter release. Yet if I change everything back to default it works fine. I know I'm being really vague about the settings that I've changed to cause this situation to occur but I'm not really sure about which setting it is. Does anyone else have this problem? I hope so or I'll start worrying that there is something wrong with my camera.

I got my replacement K-5 from Adorama...I charged up the battery and installed my 43mm prime and performed the test using ISO 80 and F22 and infinite focus...Sensor is clean....

Plus I returned the original K-5 and today I got an email saying they've credited my credit card for the original purchase..

Happened to read the attached *PDF file and it said the reason for the return was because 'SPOTS HAVE A SENSOR ON IT' I am not making this up...

K-5 "Stains"

The online chat person I talked to told me I needed to return it for evaluation and repair if needed and they would then determine if it was a warranty issue. C'mon...it was 2 weeks old. It should just be replaced. He said it was not his call.

Luckily it appears that the second one I received from Adorama is defect free.

Sensor Problem Resolution Thread

Though my K-5 sensor did not seem as bad as others it still had spots. I returned it and will be getting a replacement on Monday. If this one also has spots I'll return it for a refund and wait until the issue has officially been resolved. Though my K10D in old and quite limited compared I will force myself to be satisfied with its capabilities for now.

Just took a few test shots with my K10D that I've never cleaned and there are no spots at all. Argh.

I bought mine 2 weeks ago from Adorama and didn't think to check until last night.

Well....from my test using a 43 limited at F22 it looks like mine has stains also...though it seems that mine are slight compared to others. (see attached photo near the arrowheads). I tried blowing the sensor clean and using the Dust Removal function and these spots seem to not go away. I tried going through the routine maybe 10 times with no changes. My photo is not cropped.

Seeing as how 'minimal' mine seem would my camera be one that I should consider living with the 'stains' or should I go through the process of getting an exchange?

I'm glad I bought from a site supporter then. I probably should have splurged on the 18-135 lens also.

They quoted and billed me $1449 when I called in my order. Perhaps because I'm a repeat customer? I bought my K10D and all my primes and flash from them. Or maybe if you call them they will give you a better price. I can you give you the salesman's name but i'd rather do that offline if you want to PM me.

I finally splurged and just ordered a K-5 from Adorama. I would have liked to have ordered from B & H since they are a site supporter but their web site says they are out of stock. I called my order in since I've moved since I created an account at Adorama and their web site didn't seem to want to cooperate with any edits I was trying to make.

Anyways....I originally planned on waiting until after Christmas but decided I wanted it for my trip to Chicago over the holiday. I'll wait until next year before I buy the new 18-135.

Adorama sold me the body only for $1449 with no tax and 3 to 4 day shipping.

Does anyone by any chance have a photo of a K-5 and a K10D together?

What do you guys think the price of the K-5 will be in January after the holidays?

Is it going to be significant enough to wait or should I go for one now?

I'm really hoping to spend as little as possible so I can save up for a K-8 :-).

The friend that's giving me the Canon suggested this adapter as an option:
Pentax Lens to Canon EOS adapter.

I'd take a chance with something like this and the 18-55 kit lens I have...

Thanks...Sprags

A friend of mine just offered to give me a Canon EOS 3000 that he said is in like new condition. The only thing is is that he's keeping the lens and offering to give me just the body.

I like my K10D but would like to try film again...

....So...does anyone by any chance know where I can pick up a lens for really cheap?

K10D Value

The would be an nice alternative. But I really can't afford two cameras for a number of reasons.

From the threads I've seen in the groups here it seems that a K20D would also be another option.

One of the main reasons I'm interested in either a K7 or maybe the K20D is for low level light photography. I took a few shots last Sunday and the IQ if those shots in darker settings just wasn't what I feel arr acceptable.

K10D Value

I would like to upgrade to either a K20D or K7 but before I do I need to sell my K10D. Can someone tell me what would be a fair price for it. I don't have the box or papers except for the owners manual but it is in mint condition. I just took photo 1209 today. I'd also be willing to include the kit lens too. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks ...Sprags
