I've been away for a couple of days, but I'm back home now. I appreciate the help, and I'll get some shots of the rest of the lens ASAP.

I got what I think is this lens on eBay:

Vivitar 100-300 F5.6-6.7 MC MACRO Lens Reviews - Vivitar Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

I'm just re-entering this hobby, having bought a k100d body to match my older film equipment, then taking both a beginners and an advanced photography course at our local art museum (Erie Art Museum). Factoring in my age (61), my poor eyesight, and my financial condition (retired city firefighter), my needs are not all that demanding.

So I got this(?) lens cheap, but when I tried it on my Pentax bodies, both old and new, it would insert alright, but will not turn to lock into place. I contacted the seller, he said he thought it was a pk lens because it had a pk rear cap on it. He then refunded my money and told me I could keep the lens, too. So my total investment so far is $0.00.

Can anyone tell me what kind of lens would almost fit my Pentax bodies, but not turn to lock? And is there an adapter or modification so I can use this lens? Obviously, manual focus/exposure isn't at all important to me, I learned old school, before such things were available.

I''m going to try to force it to do it again, with the questionable card and a different card. It obviously will make me much happier if it's the card. Instead of the camera.

Worst case, I set it not to shut off automatically and carry extra rechargeables.

I kind of suspect the card, too. The seller includedthe 8 gig card with the unit, at a good price, too. One of those "too good to be real" deals. It tests out & reads ok, but I'll try a different card in it before I start my class next month.

OK, so I am a real noob with a stupid question. so stupid that I don't even know what to search for.

Twice now, with my newly acquired K100D, I have gone to look at the pictures I took that day, and they were not there. I know they were being captured, as I saw them appear on the lcd review. The last time it happened, I noticed that the camera had been left on, and had turned itself off. I switched it off and then back on, and that is when I couldn't find my images. What am I doing wrong, and how can I prevent this from happening again?

Hi all. Joe Butoryak from Erie, PA here. I'm a retired firefighter, just getting back into the hobby again. My old P30t is in storage now, replaced by a new (to me) K100D, bought on eBay from a Canadian. It's like new, with about 4500 shutter activations. I am resurrecting all my old gear, and have lots of questions about the newer stuff. I'm reading the manual and the Magic Lantern book for this camera, so I'll try to find the answers myself first, but you will be hearing from me soon, I think. Thanks for some of the help I've gotten just by searching this site; now back to my practice session.

Joe B.

BTW, my screen name comes from another hobby, competitive pistol shooting with the USPSA/IPSC.
