With so many great offerings from Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc., why do you choose Pentax?

I hav many , many historical and excellent Pentax lenses that I want to use.

But I would turn your question back on you. With the great cameras and lenses Pentax produces, why would you choose another brand ? No other manufacturer has the backward compatibility the Pentax offers

It sounds like she's upset if she's posting about it on LinkedIn, and perhaps she has very good reason to be. But I'd advise just a little caution when looking at only one side of a story. We don't know the fine details of her relationship with her employer, management and colleagues. I'm not casting doubt, here... just making the point.

In the past, I've let people go from departments and teams I've managed for a number of different reasons, and a few of those bit back. Their stories were very convincing (and, in some cases, perfectly sincere). Without a deeper understanding of the issues, folks could have viewed my treatment of those individuals as poor. But it never was... I never let anyone go without very good reason, but I never publicly disclosed my reasons...

All that said, Helen seems like a very decent sort, appeared to do a great job at Adorama, and the situation is highly regrettable :o I wish her the very best and hope she gets something else arranged soon.

I'm frugal with giving "likes". I use them for posts that I honestly do like, or find informative; not simply to give out a bunch of them for no reason.:) Probably why I have so few! LOL!

Back in the days of my childhood, we left the house on summer mornings with the instructions to be home by dinner, which was 6:00 at our house. We played in the woods, swam at the beach, played baseball just about anywhere there was room. We also knew all the "old people" around and regularly made our rounds for the daily snacks. I had one elderly neighbor who was quite good at putting my bicycle back into working order. Nobody knew where we were but we never seemed to get away with anything either. The neighbors were our safety net, not people to be feared. Unfortunately, I think those days are gone. A good parent today teaches their kids to be wary and suspicious and to trust nobody. It's sad but it also has to be that way.

I'm not much on piercings, tats, lobe loops etc. but I'm an old guy, so it is to be expected. I'm not completely out of touch......I do still love a good Cameltoe!

Trains. Real ones that puffed and fussed, starting and stopping. That laid out a line of smoke beside the cars on calm days and smelled foully of coal smoke and gawd knows what. And when they went through town at night, blew that mournful whistle that stuck with you.

Political forums are always sooo one sided......................

Politics is like discussing "BIG" pixels vs little pixels.. and just as mis-understood.......

I think you are slipping. I figured you would have a thread going about the overdose on stupid pills the GOP took regarding the $60B requested for Sandy relief efforts.

The only study you have posted was by the Congressional Research Service which PULLED it own study because it was FLAWED. Everything else you have posted was an editorial. Editorials are not research studies.

It is not a Democratic/Republican question. All taxes are required to originate in the House of Representative, so if your argument is that taxes are the key then you need to look at who controlled the House during those years. If we look at the ebb and flow of economic cycles over the last 200 years we see they don't align with presidential terms. The President has limited power over the economy as seen by our current leaders inability to move the needle.

NO. What you have posted are editorials and generalizations. You don't have to copy and paste a thousand pages, just a link to a real study. One that has not been pulled by the very people who wrote it because it was so flawed.

I did not say they were God made, but changes in tax policy always follow economic expansion and contraction, not the other way around. In the last 60+ years we have see tax rates as high as 91% and it has not had a significant impact of tax revenue as a percentage of GDP. To use the chart you posted as an example. The economic expansion was well underway when Reagan and Clinton raised taxes, and the change in taxes has NO EFFECT on the course of the economy. The recession had already started and revenue was already falling when Bush cut taxes, and again the change in taxes had NO EFFECT on the course of the economy.

There is no evidence that you can manipulate the economy through tax rates and get the desired outcome. Politicians have no control over what the optimal tax rate is for peak economic growth or government revenue is. The optimal tax rate is dependent on the expansion and contraction of the economy, not the whims of politicians (republican or democrat) or the subjective moral opinions of any group. The economy is amoral.

And if not Fox News then which should we believe? CNN? MSNBC? NBC? CBS? ABC? BBC? No liberal bias on those stations eh? Why not Pravda? The Puffington? Liberals seem to think they are center of the road don't they?
