There's some terrific surface detail in there cooltouch, who says that a catadioptric isn't sharp?
I haven't been able to catch the Moon as clearly as that, you must have good clear skies down there.

I've been a dedicated Pentax fan since I bought a second hand MX back in the 80s, I bought a lot of old glass to go with it as I couldn't afford new then.
I saved the old kit as I knew that it was better than the pennies that I'd been offered for it when I had a boot sale.
Now my daughter has taken up the challenge and is really enjoying using the MX and old lenses, now that they've become 'cool' again to her generation.
I bought her a K-r to do her school photography, and I bought a K-30, then I bought a K-S2 and she had and loved the K-30, then she looked at me with those doe eyes that daughters have especially for their dad, and she got my K-S2, so I had to buy another.
They have all been great cameras, offering something that the opposition don't have any more, a connection to a great name.
I'd love a K-50 to carry on up the road to Pentax perfection. It's been a good journey either way though.

Hmm, originally I had the very nice black/orange body, then my 18 yr old daughter stole it (actually she told me her K30 had the infamous exposure fault and I gave her my K-S2, then found that the K30 was fine after all) so I bought a S/H black body - kids, who'd have 'em? :mad::lol:

Have you tried removing/uninstalling the app and reinstalling it from the Play store since the update?

Thanks for the heads up :cool:
The app now works with my Nexus 5 (Marshmallow) and Hudl 2 tablet (Lollipop)
I only have one slight niggle still remaining - a lot of screen space is wasted both on the phone and tablet, could we have an option for the Live View in landscape with the buttons down the side?

Since there haven't been many recent additions, I thought I'd have a go.
All from a Tamron SP350 that I've had since the early 80s. First used with my Pentax MX, that my daughter has now pinched for her creative 35mm photography, and lately with first my K-30 (that she also pinched) then with my first K-S2 (also now pinched) and my second K-S2 that is just the best camera that I've ever owned.
My daughter obviously also likes her Pentax cameras too, because I never get to keep a new one for long, before she does the puppy eyes thing and walks off with it - kids, who'd have 'em? :lol:
Sorry about the obligatory moon shot, well you just have to don't you, with an SP350? :cool:

Has anyone managed to run K-S2-Remote in a VM?
I have an XP VM under VirtualBox (Linux) with the Netfx20SP1 installed, but when I try to start K-S2-Remote I get K-S2-Remote.exe is not a valid win32 application (I'm probably stupidly missing something obvious here)

Bizarre indeed.
I took some pics with myK-S2 and old Tamron 350 Cat yesterday, and I was looking at them on my Nexus 5. Live view still wasn't working, so I went to the Play Store on my laptop to see what version Image Sync was up to.
I got offered the chance to leave a review, so I left a one star review and un-installed Image Sync. I then re-installed it and, lo and behold, Live View started working.
I can't believe it, the number of times I've tried deleting the app, clearing cache, force stop and restart, re-installing etc, and it suddenly starts working again.
Now the interesting bit - I tried it again on all my other Android devices, from KitKat up to Lollipop (only the Nexus 5 has Marshmallow) and still none of them have Live View working.
There must be something in the OS that's preventing Image Sync working with certain combinations of OS version and phone/tablet.
If only Ricoh would engage with their customers and ask for debug info, I'm sure that this could be solved.

Ironically, I'm a Linux user, but I just tried the Windows program written by a forum member here (czielke), to connect to the camera while I was doing some maintenance on my rarely used Win7 partition.
The Live View in this supposedly beta application works perfectly, where the Ricoh Android one doesn't. :rolleyes:

I've since tried both of our K-S2 bodies on various further versions of Android on different devices, even a TV box.
None of these combinations have Live View, it's always greyed out.
Both cameras work fine on the iOS app.
Just sayin' - Ricoh obviously don't care, which is a shame, as the facility was one of my reasons for buying this particular camera,

Ha ha, exactly how much 'customization' of Android does a Nexus 5 have?
It's the usual, mushroom, treatment - keep the "customer" in the dark and feed them ****
What a shame, because this was a very useful feature, that definitely used to work on my K-S2 and Nexus 5

Update to my post above:
Both K-S2 cameras show live view on the iPhone Image Sync app.
Neither of them show live view on the app on several android devices, the icon is always greyed out, even though the remote control functions work OK.
My conclusion - the Android Image Sync app is broken on some Android versions. All the phones and tablets we've tried have been Android 5.1 upwards, with a Nexus 5 running Android 6.0
Redimp, if I can help to get this working in any way, in collaboration with you/Ricoh, please let me know.

That's good to know, thanks for the update.
The next time I'm at my daughter's, I'll try her K-S2 on my Android devices, and mine on her iPhone, just to make sure that I don't have a camera issue.
In fact "her" K-S2 is the one she 'stole' from me, and I had to buy another second hand one, when she insisted that her K-30 had started with the common black frames problem. The K-30 has worked fine for me since, after I cleaned the lens contacts. :hmm::rolleyes:

As stated before, and checked again.
The camera WiFi is on and in Live View, the camera is connected to the phone or tablet and can be controlled - aperture - shutter speed - shutter - focus etc.
The 'Live View' icon on the tablet screen is just greyed out. I've waited a few minutes at a time, but it never works.

I've just tried to use live view after installing Image Sync on my wife's LG G3 running Android 5.0, it doesn't work on any of the 3 devices I've listed.
My daughter has a K-S2 and uses Image Sync on an iPhone 6+, she says that live view works OK on that platform.
Is there any news from Ricoh or the developers on this issue with Android?
EDIT:
I know that it was working on the Nexus and Hudl when the app reappeared on the Google Play store after it was rereleased back in the summer, so what changed?

I have a K-S2 and I have the same problem, I can connect to a Nexus 5 running Android 6.0 and show stored images, control the camera, but the 'Live View' option is greyed out.
I also have a Tesco Hudl 2 tablet running Android 5.1, exactly the same problem with that device.
I'm sure that live view worked the last time I tried it, when I bought the camera a few months ago.
Tried uninstalling/reinstalling Image Sync, clearing cache and remaking the connection etc, no joy.

Update:
Force stopping G-Play and then restarting it now shows the Ricoh Image Sync app for my Hudl 2.
Unfortunately the app doesn't fill the screen on the Full HD Hudl 2 screen, though it does on my Nexus 5 :confused:
What happened to the little icon that you could use to expand apps to fill the screen? More investigation needed.
The good news is that Imagesync works really well on my Nexus 5, once connected you can even change the SSID and password to suit yourself, and connect by tapping the phone on the NFC symbol on the front RH of the K-S2 handgrip.
The transfers are pretty fast, it even focuses my Tamron 18-250 pretty quickly remotely.
I quite like it, and I'm loving the K-S2 even more now, it's going to make night time long exposures and shots of the ISS much easier, with the articulating screen and remote app.

Working OK on my Nexus 5, with only 5 minutes to check before I leave for work.
For some reason my Hudl 2 tablet can't see the app in Google Play, have to check later.

Thanks, I didn't realise that they're progress bars.
Yes, I used the second tab - "Photo" - and it works just fine, once I remembered to "Get file list" first every time I changed the contents of the card in the camera. I'm happy with that process.
I didn't see the progress bar working, maybe because I don't have many files on this card, as it's newly formatted for the camera that I only received today ;)

It looks like Ricoh found a potentially serious bug in the app and have withdrawn it pending a fix - due early this month according to edri's link.
I only have the one request, as I said before - Gimme a Linux version - pretty please? :lol::lol::lol:
