1. I agree, that is why I left out the "real pros" from this. Hence my remark about BBC and NGC and similar. I think that lots of enthusiasts have such work as benchmarks.
2. This is more to my point. What is there to research? Nearly all semi-pro and enthusiast would get the job done regardless of internet tests and such. Most cameras today are so much more capabale than the average photographer (unless very specific needs) that my argument is that it doesnt really matter, photography wise. Bragging rights by ascociation, now that is different.

Question to Kenspo.
Why do you think that the "normal" pros, semi-pros and the enthusiasts (I'm not counting the likes working for BBC nature, NGC and similiar here) put so much weight on what the "real" pros use?
Nowdays it is more or less impossible to find a modern camera system that is unable to deliver images at a very high level. So unless you actually need the pro-support it doesnt really matter does it? Personally i went with Pentax because of proper WR at an affordable price and i like the controls layout. IQ was actually not something i put too much emphasis on since more or less anything would do.

Yes. Meant to say D810. The D850 (would be D820) is a step up imo, but the price is also much higher.

I would argue that the K-1 does not really compete with the D750, but rather the D820.

I agree. But the higher dynamic range of the newer panels is quite noticable. Escpecially if you play HDR content.

That bird is flying towards you. A Pentax can not possibly focus under these conditions. Conclusion: you must be cheating!!!!

Because Pixel shift uses electronic shutter, and normal mode does not.

I just bought the 28-105 as my all-round lens for the K1. I think it is very good. Even sharpness across the frame. Only drawback is the smalle max aperture compared to the 24-70. It so good (and expensive) that i would hesitate to Call it a "kit lens". The measurements done by E-photozine says it all imo.
However if you plan to stay With APS-C then 28mm might not be wide enough as an all-rounder.

Tamron manufactures the Pentax Version, but With Pentax glass. I don't see this as starting from scratch at all. Pentax already has a high quality Production line for glass so that they grind lens elements and ship them to Tamron seems plausible.

He didn't say different shape, but higher quality glass. The base formula should be the same.

Not sure this is the right Place but ill ask anyway.
I was in the shop buying the 28-105 for my K-1 today. I find the 15-30 very tempting for landscape use. The guy in the shop told me that one of the reasons the the Pentax is so much more expensive than the Tamron Version is that it is not really the same lens. The Pentax is supposed to be manufactured by Tamron With their formula, but With Pentax lens elements and coatings. This could explain why the Pentax gets good reviews for even sharpness across the frame, and the Tamron is criticised for the opposite.
Anyone know anything more about this?

Not me.
Compared to the K5 (original) the AF speed is faster and more snappy on K1 with my DA*300

Did my first atempt at BiF shots today. Using the DA*300.
The difference from the K-5 (classic) is impressive. I used AF.C With Auto 9 setting. It worked really well in my opinion. What i found is that, like With the K-5, SR needs to be turned off.

I have already bought a K-1. Keeping the K-5 as backup or for when i want to travel light.
I'm really surprised that the larger viewfinder made it so much easier to get the composition right.

I have two things. Viewfinder (compared to the K5), and the third control dial.

Kenspo. Did the Japanese give you some sort of mental torture course, designed by the yakuza before hiring you?
