"missing link" is used in german-english to say: there is no connection between two parts. in this pic the mist blocks the view to Invergordon harbour with a lot more oil rigs. without the mist you can be sure, that this building has something to do with offshore technology.

the fog deleted the connection to the rest of the bay, you don't know what it is (the remains of an oil rigg in the Cromarty Firth)

The days before christmas i wanted to spend a bit money to the suffering economy (my own christmas gift). So i went out to take a look to all those FF DSLRs. I rented a D800, a EOS 5(III) for a few days and tried the D600 in a shop.
I used them in that way i use my K5's (landscapes, nature, cityscapes). I printed the pics in DIN A3+, using the best settings i can on my PC.
But - there is no advantage for me in FF:confused:
The results didn't look better than the results of the K5 (i use very good Pentax and Tamron lenses), the prints in DIN A3+ didn't show an advantage of FF or more pixx. OK, there is the advantage to crop the images, but i always try to arrange my photos the best way, when i take the photos. Than there is less cropping in pp.
My result is: i really don't need FF (at the moment). I can do what i want to in the best and affordable way with my K5 (i think the same is for the K30) and i decided to spend these free dollars in a further holiday next year in Scotland (where else?) and looking for good pictures.
My opinion!

#2 is my favourite! I love your pics.
it seems to me you have a very good 55-300. My one isn't as good as yours. So i have changed now to the Tamron 70-200/2.8. Arrived today.

is it an old abbey?
is it an old airport (perhaps for UFO's)?
is it....
This ruin of an old abbey inspires my thoughts.

today i took the chance for a long late summer walk in a parc with my new lens. i thought it over for a long time: the 1.4 55 (the DA*) or the older one. i decided to buy the older one.
all i have to say is: magnificient!!!
i use the lens for medium distances (1 to 10 m) and therefor it is phenomenal.
a few impressions from today.
enjoy

i use the k5 and the D7000 (better high iso performance than the D300!).
the only difference for me is the AF-speed. the Nikon AF is a bit better (AF tracking with fast objects). I don't use flashes, so i can't say anything about that.
if you don't want to post-process your pics, you have to choose Olympus (best jpg-engine on the market at the moment)! with Nikon you have to spend the same time in pp (optmize lightning) as you have to do with Pentax (optimize sharpness), if you know, what to do (and what you want), there is only one reason for your choice: handling.
