I will buy privately, but only if you ship USPS, because canada post is fast good and cheap on any taxes due, and generally dont even collect on low value. fedex OTOH I've had a bill for more than the product in the brokerage and tax ($15 item $20 brokerage and 1.95 tax GRRR - in fact i went and negotiated new courier deals where i work and Fedex became the bottom of the pile after that we would ship on client fedex but never used it ourselves)

Close-up using the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the Oly 60mm macro lens. I'll admit, using the evf for macros is a bit more challenging, but I'm getting pretty good results. The final images always look better than they do through the viewfinder.

The winter has already come to Moscow and brought its holiday spirit. :) Here are some photos that I´ve made on my way home with my Panasonic G7 and recently bought Olympus 25 mm F1,8 lense. I have not enought time to make a composition because it was -9 C =)

As promised, a hyacinth macaw at 150mm with the cheapo zoom... Sharpness at "0" in OV3 & cropped, nothing else. Focus on the eye.

The Oly 7-14 is reputed to be an excellent lens (as is all the Oly pro glass) but rather on the heavy side (for an m43 lens). It weighs 25% more than my DA 12-24 and (roughly) as much as the Sony FE 16-35/4.

The filter thread can be quite useful --- particularly given that it's remarkably resistant to hard vignetting, even at 9mm, as seen in the following image shot through a rather thick 10 stop ND filter:

I am in the same boat here. Pretty tempted by the 7-14mm, though, on the grounds that it pays to invest in top lenses on this format. But it is still a chunk of change. There do seem to be some third-party filter adapters out there for the 7-14mm though I've no idea whether they are any good.

To Invest in Q System?

A new camera is not going to make you a better photographer. Your money is better spent taking a photography class and learning the fundamentals of exposure and composition if you don't already know or practice them.

With practice, the Q is capable of producing magazine-quality images.

Got the 9-18mm and all shots so far convinced me. I also went for MFT for its size, and compared to the K5 and the Sigma 10-20mm it's just tiny! Now I also got the Oly 12mm as well as the Pany 14mm and 12-32mm... Too many good lenses to use the all I am afraid :D

Panasonic 14mm F2.5 with Fuji wide converter. Perfect example for the size advantage, cause it fitted into my laptop bag...

Hi folks, haven't posted in a while, been lurking. Here are a few from me. The first and last are with the Oly 12-40mm f2.8. The second is with the Oly 35mm f1.8, a small and light walk-around lens. I'm not sure whether I really like the Oly 35mm f1.8. It's small, which is a big plus walking around, but it seems to work best in a fairly narrow band of around f2.8-f4; outside of that it is a bit meh and not so punchy, at least without some PP.

Thank you! I've posted this one before, but sometimes even being a big fish doesn't pay. The crosshatched pattern in the pelican's throat is a very large carp. Its size didn't slow it down on the way to dinner.

I believe one of the more recent FW updates made it so the camera would recognize the mirror sickness and stop it on its own. I've had the sickness on two or three occasions, then after the new FW came out I noticed once or twice what you had occur. It goes for a very short while and corrects itself and is again ready for use.

Sounds like your camera is prone to the sickness, but the FW came to the rescue. :) Just my thoughts.

The aperture is controlled and commanded by an electromagnet and not a mechanical device. It's cheaper, more precise and allows for continuous and smooth variation in the aperture, which is a highly desirable feature in video mode.

All Canon lenses have such a device since the first day of the EOS system and so do all recent Nikon lenses (the "E" series).

Having the K mount allowing for electromagnetic control of the aperture is also important because it abolishes a barrier for third-party lens makers (think: Sigma) to produce K-mount versions of their lenses.
