Ahh, I see. That's a shame. With some of these it becomes a bit like waiting/hoping for a more advanced joint replacement technique down the road in the future with fingers crossed. Are you still shooting it at all in lower-light conditions?
I've resigned myself quite a long while back to a similar predicament with an LX, though it deals with fast speeds just fine. It's the metered electronically controlled slow speeds that can be an issue - it's sporadic and actually not all that frequent, but still frustrating. It too can't be remedied. (I finally bought a newer later model against better judgement, but it's still working quite well.)
Anyhow, hopefully it isn't a total loss. Cheers.

Nearly a year on now... Just curious what the final outcome with LeZot happened to be if you're still around these parts and can share for posterity.

Indeed. I just popped in here now to relay the same. I'd been fearing the news for a long time but it's incredible how long his fight wore on and how many more years the world was blessed by his presence. A bit gutted this morning. RIP Colton.
Hope all here are well and enjoying or will enjoy happy holidays.

I have a Fotodiox adapter of the same nature, also with a ring for aperture control, though it is step-less and with and incredibly short throw making it quite fiddly. It does work though and reasonably well. I've not tried my 50-135 on it but I've used it a number of times with the DA*300 which *does* cover fullframe incidentally. Far from ideal for the type of birding work I normally do on Pentax with that lens, but I didn't hate the experience and got a few quite decent shots on more than one occasion having it out.

I really, really like it. Not the smallest kit around, but it's just a pleasure to shoot with. Very overbuilt almost and the quality is very tactile in use. They look (and to be fair, are) really beefy and substantial, but they aren't as heavy as they look and handle incredibly well - much better than I somehow imagined. The in-body meter is a bit different, the scale in the VF takes some getting used to but it's accurate.
I really just bought the kit for the lens which I'd always wanted to have a peek at and it didn't disappoint (apart from some headaches with that particular seller), but it came with RE Topcor 135/3.5 and 35/2.8 which are every bit as good, easily!. I understand why these have such a devoted (however small) following. I thought I might sell on most of the kit except the 58mm lens after shooting it a few times, but I'll be holding onto the lot. :D

This is quite similar to the erratic behavior my early model exhibits. I've learned to live with mine but have made it happen with far less frequency. CLA and two (very long) trips to Eric H over the course of two years did not resolve it.
Question: when this happens does the meter read a value that seems correct and is it steady, e.g. does it behave how you'd expect... or does it jump about when you move to those shutter speeds?
If so, does it moving (or even touching/applying pressure to the exposure-comp wheel or shutter wheel make the meter LEDs change in any drastic way? (Just trying to ascertain if your issue is in any way similar to mine).

Is it title wordplay?
The ES has aperture-priority shooting if that's what you mean by "matic"...
But they're all Spot-"matic", except for the Cosina, by name/heritage. ;-)
So I suppose we were looking for the maticmatic.

You'll get a flat spot in that hood if you park that kit too long.

:) Me too. Certainly not a regular. I still remember their bizarre sliding doors with the "smoking bar".
Last time I was in was early 2006 - I met up with two friends and my then girlfriend for a 5:30am double-date before the workday on Valentine's.
They made us heart-sharped pancakes. :D (Which has nothing to do with the building but is a funny memory.)

Kinda a classic (now) architecture. I like it when they're repurposed like that into other businesses.
There was a cool old Googie style Denny's in Ballard (in Seattle) where I lived for years. It got tore down but was a huge to-do. Half the neighborhood fought it for a couple years.
Definitely was a cool old building. (photo below from Phil H. Webber/Seattle PI and Times, 1984) |
