I enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts here. It's well reasoned, and I dig any conversation that brings up Taleb's black swan idea.
However, the only thing I can contribute is this link: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/18/business/global/japanese-police-investigat...anted=all&_r=0
So perhaps Olympus's m43 camera line is doing ok? When I traveled to Berlin & Prague Oct 12, I was seriously amazed at the proliferation of DSLRs - almost all Canikons. I did not see any m43! However, here in greater Los Angeles, I see M43 in the wild all the time. Not endangered at all, despite never seeing 'em in stores like Best Buy & only 1 model, the Panasonic GF3 at Frys'. People obviously buy em online here. BTW, my first foray into M43 was because Cameta Camera had the EPL1 body only for $150. I wouldn't be surprised if, at that price, it's a give away to lure people into the genre.

i dig this lens! any tips appreciated - please review photo, not subjects.
horusbennu 50mm 1.7 < $58
fotga adapter from ebay < $12
olympus e-pl1 from amazon $150
total investment < $220 to learn ICL photography (thanks to top 2 reviews at Amazon for E-PL1 body only). i still dont own an AF lens yet (although that's gonna change really soon).
i exposed +.7 based on what i've seen here.
should i still get the SMC 1.4? will it make much of a difference? i was bidding on ebay for the 1.4, but got outbid twice. So i figured i'd buy a new horusbennu lens. if results didn't turn out well, at least i reduced the variables.
do u guys have any suggestions for wide manual legacy lenses (wide to the point where perspective is bending).
