Camera setting too slow shutter speed

Hi;

I took my first photograph with my father's Leica in 1940. He made all the settings and place it carefully in my hands. I began serious photography in 1949 with an 8x10 view camera.

Now, Jed, if you are getting 1/30 of a second at f/2.8 outside on a sunny day, either the camera was set on manual or there is a defect in either the camera or the lens. If you get correct exposures with other lenses then the problem is with the Sigma. Assuming you were at ISO 100, at f/2.8 you shutter speed should have been over 1/3000 of a second.

I use the Pentax 16~50 f/2.8. A bit pricy but an incredible lens.
