I got their 50-150mm f2.8 when it was discontinued (the 67mm filter one) and it's been great. I'm not sure if it was refurbed or just old stock but it is my favorite lens thier outlet store seems good and sigma service is good too. (except for the time the updated the firmware on my flash to the Nikon version.)

I've been looking for a DA* 300mm F4 anywhere in Canada. It seems everyone is back-ordered/out of stock. Even B&H and Adorama show as out of stock.
Does anyone know where I can get one, or alternately is something is expected. I'm sadly not up to date on rumors.

Thats for the photos, I've looked at every post as they've been posted and they give a very interesting tale. I also have to say I'm very glad you are safe back here.
Thanks for using the forum for posting images and not just arguing about pointless stuff:)

Pocketwizard and TTL ability means less and less with real strobes vs speedlights. Switching to big lights has been liberating (Dynalite) and I've found that I can still take them out very easily. That being said having a light meter is essential in my opinion. Properly exposed shots are so much easier to deal with in PP.

I'm sorry but I have to vehemently disagree. I don't own the 50-135mm, but I do own the Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 and it's a fabulous walk around lens. I just got back from a week in Vagas (West rim of the Grand Canyon, Red Rock, Valley of Fire, the Strip, the Hoover Dam, etc.) and the 50-150mm lived on one body and my 12-24mm lived on the other.
I has a 35mm in my pocket but I don't think I shot more than a hundred images with it.
As for the 50-150mm being too short, there was only one real instance where I wished it was longer. We spotted a big horned sheep high above on a cliff at Red Rock silhouetted against the sky. But having a 70-200mm wouldn't have mattered, heck even a 300mm wouldn't have made much difference.
I'm a believer that you have to double the focal length to really make a difference in the image. So the next lens in my kit is a 300mm. If you can find the old Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 (67mm dia) pick it up. It is excellent at everything it does.

I have a 32" one as I decided it fits nicely folded in my bag. However, shooting with other photographers I've discovered a much bigger one is better, it works better to block the sun, it can reflect the light further allowing it to stay out of the shot if your using a wide angle, and it creates a more even light.
Get a bigger one, if I couldn't borrow one, I'd have bought my own in a heart beat.

Like all lighting the size of the source relative to the model is important. Most people seem to be trying to use the a speedlight based ringflash, which is really a very small point source.
Paul C. Buff has both 30" and 56" moon units for his ring flash and those can create a very nice wrapping of the light all around and wipe out shadows. Totally different from the "O-Ring" style or macro flash style units.
I don't think you see many portrait/fashion photographers using the small lights. One they don't have nearly enough power, and two they are a very hard source.

My normal walk around lens is a 12-24mm f4, 35mm f2.4 and a 50-150mm f2.8. However if I'm travelling light I often throw the 50-200mm in my pocket. No it isn't as good as the constant f2.8 lens, but it is smaller than that len's hood.
Sometimes a small lens really helps and the 50-200mm is that, small and at least my copy is nice. I think I paid $200 for mine and so $70 with the kit makes alot of sense.

I thought that a long limited akin to the Voigtlander APO 180mm f/4.0 would be very nice and very discrete as a street lens.
Only 66mm long at infinity focus and sharp, smooth and with beautiful rendering. Adding AF shouldn't be too hard and would round out the limited lineup very nicely.

My wife's blink reaction means that she ALWAYS has her eyes partially closed if I use p-ttl. Therefore I have a quartet of radio transevers and use those exclusively. I find her sister the same, as are two members of my extended family. If the processing between prepulse and actual shot was shorter it might be better.

I sold my 50mm and tend to shoot about between 70mm and 105mm for most of my shots. I find 50mm to be too close to the subject.
This is of course talking about portraits.

I've used mine extensively and haven't seen this kind of behavior. I used it for an entire shoot against the sun with some brides in the water images and it was rock solid as always.
It might be your copy.:(

My normal kit with me is my 50-150mm 2.8 and my 12-24mm. I will just throw the 35mm in the bag and it is a good other lens when the other two don't cut it. It is sharp wide open and gets good images.
Best of all I got it for under $200. Heck, I spent $120 on the filter for my 12-24mm.

As of the 13th Canadian prices dropped to about $1,299. I'd be surprised is we don't see prodigital/easy123 at about $1200 before long.

Sorry for the confusion.:p
Machine A (main machine):
Windows 7-64bit, 24GB Ram, SSD, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.
Unfortunately Can't talk to the Olympus P-440 printer even through compatibility modes or a virtual machine, just can't be done.
Machine B (print driver only):
Windows XP Pro. This is my wife's work laptop so I can't install anything significant, it chokes under Word and Outlook or Excel and seems to be powered by a small rodent. And I can't network it with my machine as it is locked up so tight it is crazy.
I want to be able to transfer files to this machine so I can print them from here, but I want the bare minimum possible, don't need to do much just print.

Unfortunately my new machine is incompatible with my old Olympus P-440 printer as there aren't any Widows 7 64-bit drivers available.
As I have have a few hundred dollars worth of media there is no way I'm going to junk it, but instead I've got an old machine I'll use only for the printer.
Now I'm looking for suggestions for software to install and use to print from the other machine.
Is there anything out there that is simple and does a good job. I've looked on sourceforge and google, but I don't think I'm using the right terminology to describe what I want.
Thanks for the help.

I purchased and sold the FA 50mm f1.4. For me I wasn't happy with its wider than f2.5 or f2.8 and once I got my 50-150mm f2.8 is was useless. I just got the 35mm f2.4 from one of the last places who hasn't raised prices on it. and I plan on seeing what it can do.
I would have to say the FA 50mm is a highly overated lens.

I'm going to assume they get the glass blanks from Japan, possible even Hoya who has indicated disruptions.
Just wait until we see disruptions in 11 million cars that can't get engine microprocessors.
Heck even Government Motors (GM) just announced that they are out of red and black paint.

I took a CE course here and there was another Pentaxian there. So we are out there. And I got asked by two of the other people "Why did you buy such a fancy camera, why not a Nikon?". Made me laugh.

Far easier is to shoot stopped down. If your shooting a 16mm at f8 or f11 you should be getting almost everything in focus anyway.
Shooting with a wider lens won't improve the depth of focus if you end up cropping to get the same angel of view. If your cropping to get the same image, the DOF will be only dependent upon the apature you are using.

Remember this is a 35mm lens for a 135 image circle. Not a normal lens.
