Yup! My only point here! PENTAX marketing guys were sloppy! You can afford being sloppy when you are seling newspapers on the street or something related... I'm very excited about this lens and can wait for it... Thanks for your feedback!

Dear Pentax Users,
I'm planning to buy DA* 300 lens. I've obviously search for all available reviews/comments/sample shots. Finally, I have stumbled upon sample shots on the official PENTAX site... Gosh... I'm negatively surprised... :hmm:

See it yourself (original link to pentax sample shots!):

Poll: Walk around companion (Sigma vs Sigma)

Hey! I've got Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 EX ! It's a great lens! If I were you I would focus on the IQ/focal length ratio! The weight factor is very subjective, and can be really misleading!

I use my sigma as a standard walk-around + aquaristic photography lens. It's great!

Taken with f/5.6 @ 70 mm

Also f/5.6 @ 70 mm

This lens is really great!

Beutiful! I'm still between sigma 70-200 or 100-300 (waiting for the HSM version for my K10D)... The quality of your shots is great (considering it's not a prime with TC) ! Thanks for posting these photos!

Hey! First of all thanks for posting 100-300 f/4.0 photos! I'm also very interested in this lens! Have you got some shots taken with 70-200 F/2.8?! Could you post them and comment on Pentax version of this lens!?!

Thanks a lot!

mid range tele options which is best?

After reading numerous reviews, I would go for Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and 1.4 tele converter. Since I've started with sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX DG HSM for Pentax I need some longer tele. I was seriously considering Pentax 50-135 f2.8 however, the focal range is slightly too short! BTW, please don't be discouraged by some negative oppinions on SIGMA lenses, concerning the front/back-focus zoom. I've sent my 24-70 for calibration and it turned out that my K10D body was simply miss calibrated. There was a focus issue on almost all lenses I've used/tested and -410 um correction of focusing system solved the problem! Good luck!

Hey!

I've got also a dilemma! I've started with sigma 24-70 2.8 EX DG! The quality of photos is outstanding! Now I need a good telephoto, for street photography. Is your 50-135 performing well with Tamron 1.4 converter ?! Do you notice some slowdowns of your SSM ?!

Well! My pet differs from yours :) It's very shy, delicate, one could even say it's ultra sensitive! For sure he's beautiful and special! I'm talking about my long tentacle anemone!

Photo was taken with K10D, Sigma 24-70 EX DG @ 70mm. Exposure: 1/20sec, ISO800, aperture f/8.0! :o

Thanks for kind comments. Indeed, lens is great! I don't have a polarization fitler. Planning to get one, though. I'm very happy! I've red numerous reviews, and almost gone crazy! There are so many opinions about this lens! Everybody compares it to Canon 24-70L USM f2.8 which is great! For your info, my model comes from (40498**) series. Focus is very fast and accurate! I take photos of fish in tanks, where light conditions, distortions of tank glass can be really an issue! Sigma is performing really well in this kind of photography! It's not as silent as USM, but doesn't disturb me! As for the weight of the lens: I think it's great! Lots of people complain it's to heavy! I say it's well balanced! Once again, I can strongly recommend it to every photography enthusiast!
