Don't know if I get you right, but this is what I did. I deleted .exiv2, exported to jpg and reimported, and the lens was unknown again. This was with Darktable 3.0, will test with 4.6 later. So I guess the answer is no.

Yes, for me too, even though it could mean we won't see a K-1 II /K-3 II successor this year. Thanks a lot for sharing!

No offence meant, but now you really start exaggerating! Who exactly is "we"? Defined by whom? Keep heads down, feel inferior (as feeling superior needs the other to feel inferior) ? Please speak for yourself only. And just for the record and for not being accused of bashing: I use Pentax for almost 40 years, don't have a plan to jump ship and even want to buy the k-1 II (or it's successor) despite whatever DPR says or does. Let's go back to talk about photography with pentax instead of playing the downtrotten soul.

I voted Darktable because I like it's workflow more and find the organization of it's modules more intuitive and easier to use. It's easier to organize my collections with darktable, whereas RawTherapee offers no such thing. But, as others already stated, I'd like to see some module for processing pixel shifted raws like RawTherapee does. Another benefit for me is that you can extend darktable quite easily via lua-scripts.

Sometimes I wonder how photographers could get sharp and well focused shots in pre-autofocus / film days.

Yes, right, but to tell the truth it's both thats needs to be done. Maybe not for You and me, who are already Pentaxians, but for potential new customers, and customers think also in a visual way. A company with "imaging" in it's name should take more care of this. These are only minor complains, and the site seems in a permanent state of change, so we don't know whats next. Don't get me wrong, it's not the "I am.." bull... from Nikon that I want, it's a more professional and up-to-date look.
But now off for "Merry X-mas" everybody! Have nice days.

C'mon everybody, don't behave like children (even though christmas is not far away). Is it really likely that:- you officially declare there will be a FF
- you already delivered two new FF lenses
- you show a prototype at some shows
- you introduced a new domain (pentax.com) for ff
and then you either produce a mirrorless or cancel the FF completely? I know there are people on PF who think Ricoh does not know how run a company, but that would be completly suicidal so it will not happen! Keep cool, people!

Come on guys, we're leaving in 2015! Internet has been here for a while now and people should really begin to understand which content to use for their decisions. If I would take Ed's videos as a basis for a decision which brand to buy or leave it would be me who's got the problem and not Ed. This has absolutely nothing to do with the question if I like the videos or not! Nowadays you have to have that competence or internet is in general dangerous to You. Please provide a more serious youtube-channel yourself if You think that Ed's videos might be "dangerous"! And please stop getting personal, share Your dislikes with personal messages. Your personal disputes are not of any interest to the public.

Never thought you were trolling, as I said: if the Canon is right for you than there is nothing wrong with it. Flame Wars are stupid and for little boys. Concerning the mood of pictures we enter a debate that has IMO not much to do with camera capabilitites but with art, an aspect that's not quite corresponding with the threads title.:D By the way: like Your shots!

Exactly, that's what I would say too: if you're happy there is nothing more to say. This user (also on PF) seems to get quite good skin-tones from Pentax-bodies though: https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertodq/. I guess in these cases it's the post-processing that counts.

Well, it's a forum called PentaxForums so I don't thinks it's wrong concentrate on that said brand. But still I find people quite openminded. Did you realize that the comparison was done by a pro with 30 years of experience? Was this comparison made to distract people from FF? Not, it wasn't, it was to show people what's possible with a specific camera from a specific brand. But what people do first is to critize the methodolgy of the comparison itself and second cry for FF, as if it was the holy grail for everything. So don't tell me you mean this by "open". And by the way: nobody in this thread defends something to death, but if someone feels that arguments are only arguments and nothing else, than please provide some evidence, and please do it as a photographer, so that dummy amateurs like can follow your experience.

Nicolas, I don't want to argue about the pros and cons of FF vs. APSC. I'm not a pro anyway but a learning amateur who's looking forward to new cameras, even if I don't know the specs yet. So I happily agree with what you said above: it depends on what You have to do and what youre requirements are. I just don't get why every thread in this subforum (and maybe in the FF as well) must turn into an apodictic discourse about FF, the complete incompetence of Ricoh in general and so on. I could imagine that a lot of silent members like me find all this a little bit ridiculous. And for pros: there should be a life without Pentax, but maybe PF isn't just the proper place to let the world know. And this isn't meant to deny their grief.

So basically this thread is going this way: everything is lost and invain. All those top pundits around here advice me (and foremost themselves it seems) that now it's definitely time to jump ship. The story goes that RICOH absolutely has no idea of the dslr-market, has no idea where to move next, which product to develop and so on. If they only would listen to Uluru and the likes, they already have the answers ready. Unfortunately their don't run a global company on their own, but this detail is of minor concern and can be neglected. These days it's really hard to stand whats written in here. Please people, get happy again, even if this means you have to buy Nikon or Canon or Sony, really, the others don't mind, even if you think so. You are grown ups, you can buy whatever you like, even if it's non-Pentax gear, nobody cares. But please don't tell everybody else that it's useless to adhere to Pentax. Those who do for whatever reason are grown-ups as well who know what to do (I hope at least)!

Ron, I always liked your objectice and calm manner of disussing here, based on Your expirience as a pro and, the most important to me, backing your opinion with a lot of great shots (should be made a rule here IMO)!
What made You so grim recently?
Cheers from neighbouring Germany.

Didn't you listen to Uluru? It's all a great conspiracy by RICOH, made of lies and politics to drive away the only ressource they really need: customers!

I was thinking a long time about posting to this thread. Since I consider myself to be a sort of newby who started digital photography 2 years ago with a K-5 I don't feel I've got a lot to contribute to this well informed thread except my feeling of getting annoyed the more I read it. If I take a look at the subject of this sub-forum and and it's threads I would think people are talking about a Full Frame Pentax camera. Even newbies like me know that this camera doesn't exist yet so it's absolutely clear to me that people are speculating. What I really find annoying are statements like "I dont' care about cameras I have no interested in" or "Three Pentax cameras aren't enough to be admitted to the club?" because they don't contribute to the subject neither. Why does one take part in a discussion when your are not interested in it's subject? To show that one for sure is interested, but only in a negative way? This has nothing to do with critique on whatever subject a critique would be justified for, and I guess there may be dozens areas where critique may be useful. But this attitude of "I know better than You, my toys are bigger, more powerful, why do You care about an imaginary toy You could like better" contribute only to one thing: that this thread will be closed very soon like so many before it.;)
