Hi Mike,

Curious about your Vivitar 28mm 2.8. Having trouble differentiating it from other similar lenses. does it have auto-aperture? Is it the TX mount?

thanks!

Vivitar p/k lens not mounting on K-5

Thanks, yeah, it's in manual mode. I've got a thing for old primes. After your comment, I wondered if the linkage wasn't engaging or was jammed. I looked more closely at the linkage and although the iris closed easily on the lens, it seemed to be slightly bent. It straightened it out and voila! Works! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Now I get to see whether it was a good bargain or not...

Vivitar p/k lens not mounting on K-5

Sorry for resurrecting a year-old thread, but I just purchased a Vivitar 70-210 4.5 P/K with the long shield as described here. I found it at a Goodwill store for $30. I removed the ring with the shield just to see if I wanted to keep it and although it did mount OK, the shutter release is affected. When I depress the shutter, the mirror flips up and stays there, no exposure happens. If you rotate the f-stop ring, the mirror does flip back down.

Anybody have an idea what might be happening or if it's possible to modify the lens to prevent this?

thanks

…interesting subject indeed! We do get a lot of that here, not just on the travel posters. I'll be sure to share.

Thanks, happy to share...I'm mostly into landscapes and plants...so fertile fields for that here!

You know, I'm familiar with northern Scotland, too...my wife and I lived for several years in the Findhorn community near Forres. Some stunningly beautiful country there, too.

Hi,

After several days of research I've settled on replacing my somewhat sub-par Canon digital camera with a Pentax K-x. Haven't found the deal yet, but I came across this site and that helped seal the deal for me. You won't find anything like this for Sony or Panasonic owners, I'll tell you that!

Anyway, looking forward to discussing cameras and photography here, thanks.

BTW, anybody selling a K-x that hasn't listed here, let me know.

Hi,

I'm interested in purchasing your camera, and I'd like to know how much shipping the item to me would be...I live in Hawaii (my zip is 96746) and normally I'd recommend people ship stuff here using USPS Priority...inexpensive and quick, especially if you can get it in one of their flat-rate boxes. Anyway, I'm not familiar with Canadian post, so how much do you think it would be to ship it to me?

I'm also curious about the eyepiece...being old enough to need some help with my vision, is it true there is no diopter adjustment on the camera without this eyepiece?

thanks, Roland.

Hah...should have read about the focusing screen before posting....got nothing to do with the eyepiece, I see now. But, I do wonder if you have a composition pattern on that screen. thanks.
