Exciting! I was just looking at Fuji options for a second compact camera with a normalish FL when I came across Kai and Lok’s video independently. I think I’d prefer the pocketability (and IS) of this over the x100 series or a x-e4 w/27mm pancake. Well done, Ricoh!

Testing my newly-acquired SMC 21 at the fair. K-70, f/5.6, ISO640, a little PP in PhotoNinja.

Just going through some images from earlier this year and thought I'd add one here. This image and the rich blues and nice contrast show what this underrated lens can do. 28mm f/8 on the K-70, a little PP in PhotoNinja. I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference if this was taken with the 20-40.

Cross posted in the DA* lens club, came across this thread and figured it fits pretty well! Looking forward to browsing this thread later.

Boston skyline from Fan Pier Park. Focused slightly too closely but I liked the look of the dark pillar contrasting with the smooth water, and looking like it's holding up the city.

Loving the shots on here. Reminding me why I love Pentax. Here's a contribution from me....perfect Pentax weather! DA* 16-50 w/K-5.

This seems to be getting a positive response here so I figured I'd submit it. Supercell thunderstorms in the central U.S. are photogenic, but not often do they show the texture and structure shown in this example. I shot this storm with both the K-5 at 16mm and a Fuji X-E3 at 12mm (using the excellent Samyang 12/2), and I preferred the rendering from the K-5, even with the 8 MP difference. This was a reason why I decided to stick with Pentax for the foreseeable future, since I mostly do storm photography. |

So shooting the super blue blood moon through my telescope I thought I might be able to get a shot like this without any compositing since the eclipse would be near its peak as the moon was setting, but by the time the moon got low in the horizon it was getting washed out by the dawn light. So this is a composite of two separate shots...the moon was a little ways above the church when I shot it. But the relative sizes of the moon and the church are correct for the focal length (1325mm). The church was ~3/4 mile away. Normally I'd reduce the noise in PhotoNinja but it removed too much detail in the moon, so I left it in there. |

Absolutely. If pixie dust in a given scene requires knocking out flare, then the 15 would win every time. You could probably say that about distortion, too. Don't get me wrong I really liked the 15, and I get why it's special, I just find the 15 and 16-50 images to be much closer in rendering and sharpness than I expected.

Yeah, I borrowed my Dad's K-1 and I just posted in another thread how I like the FA43 images better on the K-1 than the K-70. It's been fun having the FA43 to play with, but it's not my K-1 so I won't be buying the FA43 and the end of the rental period.
I decided to buy the DA40 again instead of the FA43 or HD35. The FA43 doesn't give me enough over the DA40 to justify the $250+ price difference (used). With the excellent high-ISO performance of the K-70, I don't feel like I need < 2.8.
