I miss seeing and smelling macrocarpa trees. I grew up with them as shelterbelts and not too far from the coast.

Of all the Fujifilm glass I had, I miss the 60mm the most. It has great bokeh, colour and is well and truly sharp enough

Fair point, I read per above that one image was horizontal and one vertical, so anticipated one was rotated digitally during scanning. Not sure. I’m still fairly certain the line won’t be visible on the negatives.

That’s likely a scanner light bulb on the way out. I had this happen on a flatbed and also on my minolta scanner once. I would show them the issue.

Thanks. Let me check with my brother in Wellington. He might want it for his KX.

Fair enough. For 135mm and a defined size of 2939x4409, It's 55-75mb/DNG dependent upon subject and associated small tweaks to cropping.
For MF, I did use TIFF. I was using an Epson flatbed and scanning at 2400dpi. File sizes (approx 16MP) were ~100mb.
In short, Vuescan software is still tab-organised with input, a preview scan, then crop and filter controls set, then a (context specific) output destination, which includes certain transparency and negative (e.g., Kodak) settings. I find that a scan preview is always required for transparencies due to exposure/ colour balance shifts if the edge of the film is exposed. Most of the time, the negative holder consistently held the film well (I have 4-6 film strip cuts).
Edit: Remembered another video I saw re: file size comparison and mention of Digital Negative Pro.
No affiliation with the guy, enjoy his work.

Hi Les.
I'm running my Konica Minolta Dimage 5400 Elite II with VueScan. I now run on Debian Linux and use Darktable for editing.
I switched from the Minolta software due to a Windows driver issue. I spent the better part of 2021 digitising my 35mm and medium format collections.
Your Nikon experiments are interesting. I would also recommend taking another look at Vuescan due to the updates and the available output options. Having DNG is really helpful for colour balance and calibration options (and is much more compact than TIFF).

Good call on the export letters, had not thought to use them for that: I typically maintain a folder of images that are exported and uploaded.
Happy New Year to you all. May it be filled with decent opportunities for taking images!

Nice! I've been in the north eastern Kaimanawa on the Mohaka river a few times, but not for a while (amazing fishing back in the day).
We were in a dash-8 at the time and bouncing a bit, I'm surprised you could recognise the place, good effort.
I'd like to drive the route back via Kuripapango, maybe should plan that the next time back.

Merry Christmas, All. Be well!
Thinking of the back country today (think either southern Kaimanawa or Ruahine ranges, pardon the smeary plane window).

Jumping in. I would love a new X-E camera and am fine with the direction except the viewfinder. I've moaned about this before, but the eye relief and the magnification size were better on the X-E1 than X-E4. If they put the same viewfinder as the X-T5 in, I would probably buy one. Stabilisation would be nice as well.

The scans continue... Minolta Vectis S1 28-56mm, Wales, UK, 2002. Edit, Nexia F100, this was excellent film. Very similar to Fujifilm REALA, which I liked a lot.

A loong time ago indeed. Ran into some of our pilots who worked for the RAF in the very early 2000's in the UK, one of whom was a school acquaintance. Not a fan of what we did there.
Are you intending to buy new, or second hand? I was in Japan last in 2019 and did not see many things I could not get here in North America, but if you after second hand items (which are also sold on Evilbay) there may be some advantages.

They are spectacular. I've been here 17 years and they are still very interesting to me. To be fair, the level of interest in the park at this time of the year is very high, and we can drive through. Just not stop.
