Someone who needs auto focus. Trust me chasing toddlers with MF lenses is a pain. At the price points I would consider both, there is certainly room for each in my collection of affordable lenses.

Is the d7000 penatamirror or prisim. The big thing making me want to upgrade my k100ds to a K-7 or 5 is the view finder. Playing with a k-x and k-7 side by side made that desire even greater. The k-x maybe nice in low light, the the k-7 is 8 times the camera to take pictures with.

i use flash for indoor photography. I can;t afford fast auto focus glass, and my ability to quickly focus with vintage glass is lacking and I tired of so many missed and blurred shots. I use a vivitar df-383 on a k100ds and a da 18-55 mostly on occasion the 55-200. Considering the price I am happy with the results, but I am still learning.
The vivitar flash seems to work fine and has all the features i though important, but it does lack in build quality. the Battery door is flimsy and i take a lot of care with it, and the shoe seems fairly fragile, so i worry about it breaking, but for the price i feel it was worthwhile.
next step progress from flash diffusers and bouncing to some off camera flash on a budget.
I have not used any other flash units, so take that for what it is worth.

I am pretty happy with my vivitar 383. Not the most well built Flash I suppose. the mount is plastic, so that concerns me for breakage and the battery door seems fragile. Overall it is really a cheap build, but I treat my gear well and it was enough cheaper I am willing to risk it. It seems to function well, being my first external flash, I am by no means an expert to judge its ability. overall i have been pleased with my purchase.

Great info. I am glad I invested in enloop so far over more readily available hybrids. In the future i will have to consider the powerex Batts.

I am not in the least worried about picture quality, it is for a toddler. Durability is key.

I want to buy a camera for my 2.5 year granddaughter for xmas. She can already use my wifes Canon a710IS to some degree. I have looked at the Fisher Price and V-Tech cameras designed for this age group and want some input on what product to buy her. Obviously for this age group optical and picture quality is not of any concern, just build quality and ability for a young child to easily use it. I want to encourage her to enjoy photography and start her off early. I am sure some of you have had the same thoughts.

My vivitar flash does that, i assumed it was something to do with the capacitors charging or something.

You might look at a Vivitar Series 1 df-383-pen I picked one up for around $130 It is my first flash unit, so I can't compare it fully to others, but it seems to work well for the money. It does p-ttl as well as full manual settings and has both swivel and tilt, which all but the most expensive Pentax models lack. I intend to eventually use it off camera as my skill grows.

A bridge camera may be of more interest for you then like the x70 or any other sold by the major makers. In the future you probably should research the camera before you buy it.

I really want a lens thats is 28-135 ( at least 100) f2.8, that for me would be the perfect hiking/walk around lens. Of course it would also need to not be over $500 or I am liely not able to afford it anytime soon. Does such a bird exist in Pentax land, AF is not a must.

I want nothing to do with a camera with out some form of view finder. I don't care if it is at least like those on some point and shoots. In bright light even the best lcd becomes hard to see well. I suppose an enclosed EVF like on some Bridge cameras would be acceptable.

I really just don't care about wifi at all. I suppose a pro in studio would find it useful, but I don't see how much an amateur/enthusiast would benefit.

One thing that attracted me to Pentax as a new to DSLR buyer was how Pentax has kept compatibilty through the years.

Considering niether Nikon or Canon use in body shake reduction might have a lot to do with why nobody makes a FF with it.
