Phottix Flash Triggers

I do not own those triggers so cannot comment, but I doubt wireless P-TTL will work. What is the purpose for buying those triggers ? They are a bit expensive for just wireless triggering.

Agreed, not sure why no one does that with Pentax, I'm sure PW can do this with Pentax. I hope YN comes out with something.

Are there any plans to create flash integration products.Wireless flash control, etc etc. I am sure that is one thing that keeps a lot of Pro's using speedlights form switching to Pentax.

Pentax K-3 Specifications

Why on earth did the come out with the K-5 II and IIs, makes no sense. So now we have the K-5, K-5 II, K-5 IIs and K-3 all cameras almost similar. I am lost. What would have made sense is

1. A FF
2. 1/250 - 1/320 sync speed.
3. Firmware update for the new flashes to support that Sync speed.
4. Flash power control from the camera

for starters.

I never said the wine was bad, I said they don't need to spend money on different bottles. Time and Money can be spent in a better Flash System, Better Flashes, Better P-TTL etc etc..

They are totally screwing things up no one needs the same wine in a different bottle. Even the flash upgrades are a joke and rip-off. Pentax is looking more like Microsoft (no - innovation ) where else CanNikon are like Google and Apple at this point.

Metz 52 AF1 issue with K-5

I am more concerned about whether the wireless hss works. I also have another problem with 50 AF-1 and wireless p-ttl. I upgraded the firmware to 4.0 an now the slave 50 af-1 does not fire the main flash. The per flash is firing. Now I want to rollback the upgrade and Metz tech support is just hard to get to. Any help will be appreciated.

I am not sure if I make out from the discussion whether the flash is good for the K-5. I was more interested in the Wireless HSS, and use the 52 AF as a commander/controller for a Metz 50 AF.

Pentax needs to get the basic right.
1. Better focus.
2. Better flash system.
3. Bigger lense line up.

and ADVERTISE. Half the people don't even know about Pentax. It's not rocket science.

I too am a bit frustrated with the speed of AF on the K-5. I am really hoping that they come out with a firmware to fix the AF speed and accuracy. All it is is software.
I know they want people to buy the K-5 II.

High speed sync flash with manual non-A lens?

Awesome, that's what I had a hunch on, about the length of the cord. Even when connecting it to the K-5 kit lense I was not getting consistent P-TTL. Apart from getting a shorter cord, is there another solution to bridge the Voltage / Ohm gap, may be an Impedence matcher etc.

My issue is that when I connect a smc 50mm 1.7 manual A lense the HSS works when the flash is on the HotShoe but not when it is connected to the cord.

HSS does work with that cord and I have tested it with the DA 18-55mm kit lens
The cord is rated for p-ttl. I am looking for an HSS solution and hence the cord
My issue is with the smc -A Pentax 1.7 lens

I have a K-5, Vello Universal Duo TTL cord ( 33 feet ), smc 50mm-A 1.7 lens and a Metz 50 AF-1 flash.
When I connect the flash on the camera hotshoe I am able to do HSS, but when I connect it to the cord it does not work. It cant even identify P-TTL.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks guys for you input. After reading about the radioactivity about the takumar lenses I was planning on gertting the A50/1.4 or M50/1.4, but now I may even get a Takumar. Sorry simbon4o and tromboads, may be one less lens for you :)

I totally understand the technicalities and the amount of radiation we all go through. I have also seen the m42 to k mount adapter. I currently just have a k-5, Metz 50 af 1 and the 18-55mm kit lens. I just wanted to hear opinions. It seems that only the Takumar are radioactive, the regular smc coated manual lenses are not
