The video of the K3/K3II is roughly on par with the likes of the Canon 70D. The leap forward in video quality & dynamic range with cameras such as the Panasonic GH4 raises video standards to very high levels.
An ideal combo is the K3 as a stills camera and the GH4 as a video workhorse.

It is going to be at least a year from now before a new cropped frame Pentax SLR is released. K3 II came out this year. Prices for the K3 should stick at about 650 USD as it is being passed out in some stores.

Great place to start shooting! Look towards a Pentax FA 50 f1.4 or a sigma 17-50 f2.8.

Thanks for the advice guys. Picked up the Prestige since it only has 682 shutter actuations, and is in perfect condition.
Traded in the K30 and my initial impressions with the K3 are that the camera is miles better in low light and has very snappy performance.

Buy a used K3 or don't risk it?
I'm torn between getting a new K3 or getting a K3 Prestige w/grip which is in like new condition. The store with the K3 Prestige is offering a 30 day repair warranty.
What do you guys think? Should I consider the used Camera?

You are right on that point, but I don't understand why the Sony A57 gets a gold award but not the K-30.

I find it odd that DPreview gave the K-30 78% while they gave the K-5 83%. Pentaxforums's review said that the "K-30 is simply the best dSLR that Pentax has ever made". Who to trust? Well lets just say I bought the K-30.

Pentax SMC-DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] WR - Review / Lens Test - Sample Images & Verdict
"Just to mention again - we couldn't believe the rather poor performance so we asked the local Pentax service in Hamburg/Germany for an assessment of the situation. Result: the lens is within factory specifications"
After a look at this I would like to hear what any owners have say about the 18-135 because it was the lens I was waiting for. I thought because of its focal range it would have way better optical quality than a 18-250. Is anyone here having better experiences with the 18-135?

What I would reccomend is to keep the K10 if it is still working fine. Spend the money on some good glass like the 17-70 SDM and maybe one of the fast 50mm primes. The only reason I upgraded from my old 10mp camera is because it broke after the warranty was over. I'm not blown away by the K-30 on low iso images compared to the K200D (K10). They are not better images, just bigger. However If you need video, 6 fps continuous shooting, and lower noise at high iso that is up to what you will be using the camera for.
