Thanks Weldon. Everyone else was just falling into the water from that height - this guy was throwing himself upwards, so I had to wait for him to come around in the rotation a few times before I got it right!
It's definitely a site setting. I checked a couple of other browsers and had the same issue - until I logged in - then it shrunk to suit.
Click on the Preferences link at the bottom of every page, then scroll halfway down to the "Thread Display Options" section and change the Maximum Photo Width to 1024 or whatever is best suited to you.

As far as Pentax lenses are concerned, I'd look for the 16-45 lens. It is not too expensive and - provided you get a good copy - can be very satisfying. On the 'con' side there are the maximum aperture of 4 at the 'long' (=45mm) end.
The 16-85mm Pentax lens is a more modern design, but also is a bit slow and will (even the used ones) exceed your limit.

Do you know the shutter count? If not bring an SD card and take a couple of test photos.

I have the K-30. You have AF during video recording, but you have to use the AF-button to activate it. Focus peeking does not work during video, unfortunately as that would be much more useful than noisy AF.
