I'm loving my SMC-M 50mm/f1.7 on my K-30, but I can't seem to get my flash (AF-360FGZ) into high speed sync mode with the camera in manual mode (though I have tried other modes as well, with the same result).
It works fine when I put one of the kit lenses on, but I'd much rather continue using what has become my walkaround lens (the 50mm).
As for why I need HSS, I'm attempting to experiment with outdoor fill flash techniques.
Assuming that I can't do this with the 360, will something like the Metz 48 or Sigma EF-530 be able to do this? Or am I out of luck with doing any HSS + SMC-M combination? Ideally any winning combination will work with SMC-M lenses and let me continue using the camera in manual mode.
Thanks!

Hi all. I just recently bought a K-30 with two kit lenses (50-200 and 18-55).
Also just bought an M 50/f1.7 on eBay, waiting for it to arrive this week (it should be here Wednesday).
I'm pretty new to photography still, started exploring the interest earlier this year. I started out with a used Nikon D70s and switched to Pentax a few months later. Now I'm attempting to build up a system around it (get some decent lenses/speedlights/and so on).
I do a lot of programming related things: https://github.com/codeblock/
I'm an amateur radio operator: N8SQL
I'm a Fedora Linux contributor and an intern at Red Hat.
I currently attend Stark State college, and am looking to transfer to a non-community college within the next semester or two.
I'm majoring in Computer Science.
So, there's my life. :)

Hi there :)
Yes, you know me from IRC, and no, I haven't posted before now, but I've been reading/lurking quite a bit.
