I never thought I'd fll in love with a lens and was hesitant buying the 16-85. The range convinced me, simply because I need a one-lens solution when travelling on business and I tend to stay away from anything that can be called "superzoom" (yes, that includes the 18-135). Once I got it, the sharpness, corner to corner, surprised me. It's reasonably flare-resistant and focuses fast. I'd guess it's on my K-70 60% of the time at least.

The lens is weakest at the long end, but can still be acceptably sharp. The extra reach over other walkaround lenses is very handy.

This is a lace monitor, in Mitchell River NP, East Gippsland. (Cross-posted from the reptiles thread.)

Nice Bokeh with the 24-70mm.

Really good lens for Concert photography as well :

I really appreciate this lens more and more. I like the color rendition and the sharpness especially.
and the AF is really snappy, even in low light. It sometimes struggle in almost dark but I honestly can't blame the lens for that.

I have been using My Pentax K-30 for youth Ice hockey for the last 3 years. I have a sigma 70-200 F2.8 and I get some keepers. This one is shot through the glass behind the goalie.

A wee storm blew through Brisbane yesterday, and my plan was to go high and get a side on view of the front coming through but this had to change due to the speed of the storm front. Instead I headed into the city and parked near the river knowing that I should be able to get the approaching storm and city views in with the 15-30. This image was taken after the storm had blown itself out to sea and the setting sun created some stunning cloudscapes and bathed the city in golden light.

In the middle of the storm I was on a bridge trying to stay out of hte wind whilst the storm blew through when this intrepid rider came along.

So I started to process and sort my photos from my safari. All taken with 55-300 or 17-70. Here I'll post a few 300mm shots.

My sigma 17-70C is gathering dust after I bought this lens. I can't think of a more versatile lens when travelling.

You need a 58mm lens adapter tube to get out past the hood. Easily found on ebay. I have one but haven't actually used it yet other than testing the fit. But the FA31 and stitching has become my go to landscape lens....

I discovered this view a couple of weeks ago, and intend to come back for a sunset session sometime. This will have to do for now.
