Hi, I've been reading the Pentax forums since I purchased a K5 in September of 2012. I started with a Kodak Brownie 120 film camera and a Practica FX3 with M42 threaded lenses in 1961... a 50mm 2.8 Tessar and a 135mm 3.5 Tele Westerer lens. In 1983 I bought a Pentax ME Super with the 40mm 20mm 135mm M lenses and the 300mm A lens...all Pentax. So that's why I got the K5 in 2012, my first DSLR. I added the 18-55mm and 50-200mm WR lenses as well as the 100mm DA WR lens. I also picked up on EBay the DA 10-17mm fisheye and the 70 mm DA limited. Then I sold my ME Super and got a Super A with the 50mm 1.4 A lens. I live on the north coast of Oregon and take mainly wildlife and landscapes. But I do like to do macro and people shots when I'm traveling. I have a Panasonic FZ-100 that is handy as a travel lens, but I really like using prime lenses and working for the right shot rather than just snapping a lot of images on the fly. I owned the Pentax-A 35-105 lens twice. The first time I got rid of it because it was too heavy. Then I bought it again because the images were so sharp. But I just could not stand the weight and bulk. So I sold the second one too. Image quality is not the only reason to have a lens. Now that lens would probably balance nicely on my K5 with the battery grip. I still like the challenge of using one focal length. I still enjoy film, but could not afford to use it as much as I do my dslr. I will probably sell the Panasonic. It takes more effort to use the K5, but I love the results. I am now just learning to use Lightroom 5. I will start shooting raw. I think I will need a lot of help with Lightroom. The forum saved me when I first got the K5. I would have never figured out how to get the M lenses to work on the K5 without the posts on the Pentax forum. Thank you so much. The info on the forum has been priceless concerning lenses and the camera. I don't know if I can be much help, but I sure have received a lot of good information via the forum members. Also I've been inspired by the photos posted. Even the average performing lenses produce fantastic photos in the hands of some of the forum members. They have the ability to see things the rest of us do not. Perhaps one day I'll be able to post a photo worth sharing too.
