Thank you for your replies :)

Yet another question...I have shot 2 rolls up to now with my mz-s. After shooting the last frame, the camera "rolls back" the film as expected.
Nevertheless the film is not completely rolled in (8-10cm are still out of the spool). Is it normal?! Am I placing the spool/film correctly ? Could somebody make a picture of a correctly placed film or send me a page out of the user manual? It would help a lot.

Best Regards,

Olivier

Dear Pentax friends!

I am so happy about my first pentax full frame camera that I decided to share this picture with you... (MZ-S)

It is not my first film camera (also owns a MF Voigtländer IIIw and Contax T3), but being able to use theses lenses on a small film camera is for me a real joy!
I just love shooting film and feel I might even resell my K5...

One question: are the APS-C lenses (like the 35mm macro) really too "small" for the MZ-S? Ever used APS-C lenses on full frame bodies?

Best Regards,

Olivier

How to push the Pentax Full-Frame Idea and get that FF out faster...

Well... It is really annoying that pentax communicates poorly with its customers. Unless pentax announces a FF in january next year, I will sell all my pentax gear (including my beloved zeiss zk lenses) and will probably get a canon 6d or leica M.

travelling to jordan / choice of lenses

Hello,

Same thing again ;) an equipment post : I am going in december to Jordan and am wondering what to take:

my primary camera would be my K5. Lens options:
1. zeiss zk f3.5 18mm (MF)
2. pentax limited f2.8 35mm macro
3. zeiss zk f2 50mm macro (MF)
4. zeiss zk f1.4 85mm (MF)
5. pentax f2.8 50-135

I would get a maximal of 3 lenses and one backup camera (6. fuji x100 or a 7. fuji ga645zi - autofocus 6x4,5 medium format camera ca 30-50mm).

What would you go for ? I can decide between taking 1+2+4 or 1+3+4 or 1+2+5... and 6 or 7 ? 6 would be good for silent street photography...

Greets from germany!

Olivier

Hello,

I am considering investing some money in an R lens (24 or 28mm) for my pentax k5 and a leitax mount.

1. What would be the performance of such a lens with this leitax mount ?
2. Are there optical problems ?
3. What about the IQ?
4. Focusing ? Is it possible to focus at 2, 4 10 meters? What about the minimal focusing distance?
5. Which modes are supported? I have read that the lenses would meter in AV and M mode. Right?
6. Do you have any suggestions or any experience feedback to share?
7. How are the leica R zooms? Worth trying?
8. Ever compared such a converted lens with a modern Zeiss ZK lens?

Thank you for your replies!

Zeiss ZK LBA - pics, notes, thoughts?

exactly.. if you can use a tripod, then you should use the INFO button and zoom in and focus accordingly.

I took my Zeiss lenses last week to my hometown in order to show you some pictures made with them (nothing special, but interesting though) :

- Zeiss 85mm at f1.4, ISO 800 1/125 handheld in the dark (it's about the bokeh)
- Zeiss 18mm at f8.0, ISO 1600 1/20 handheld in the dark... look here: :)

Some shots with the 50mm makro wide open (at f2.0) and handheld :
- The bride and a buddy
- 2 friends (well next time I will not shoot at f2.0 when I am so close, my buddy is not really in focus with the shallow DOF!)
- Another one (not perfectly in focus, but still very nice I guess... I wanted to force the bokeh in order to blur the very ugly and disturbing background!)

And the last one with the 85mm at f3.2, handheld in Berlin:
- Dancer in the street (a lil bit sharpened in lightroom, but a monstruous native sharpness though!)

looking for a zoom

Hello,

I am looking for a zoom in the range of the 16-50 which performs better than the Pentax WR - a 24-70 could also do its job but only if its faster than f4.

I have heard that the 16-50 WR is really bad wide open which is for me a NO GO since I need it for quick portraits at the longest end.

I do not especially need WR but it would be nice, since I will use it in Jordan. if possible, FF compatible. Price is not important to me.

Thank you for your recommandations!

I have some ZK Zeiss lenses (K mount): 18 f3.5, 50mm f2 macro and the 85 f1.4
Anybody has some expertise on that subject (using on canon or nikon without image quality loss, possibly without loosing the data communication).

Thank you for your replies.

.. I have been reading your posts.. but I am still not convinced about is going to come... or not. Can anybody sum up ? And when.. ?

Other question: I have some good zeiss FF lenses. Could I use them with a Canon or Nikon? If yes, how and what are the restrictions (data communication ?

Thanks and best Regards,+

Olivier
