My biggest gift I guess would be that, as compared to last year, I'm home from Afghanistan this Christmas, and spending it (in the Austrian Alps!) with my wife and her family.

You have a good camera and a good lens already, you don't need anything else.
A good image is made in the mind and executed in the camera.
Upping your game happens in your head and better images flow from that.
Spend the money on studying the work of great photographers and travel to good locations near and far.
Remember good images are all around you.

jpeg, but if you lower the contrast/sharpening and use the "natural" setting, its pretty close to what the raw will show
