Most definitely would like to have the ability to turn off noise reduction. I think this choice should be left up to the operator of the camera, not the firmware.

Thanks for replying.
That's correct, my DSLRs are non-Pentax. I was just wondering which aperture setting on the adapted lenses used on the Q would work best.

Have not had that problem as I have my folders setup by date photos taken. I like this way as I can search for folders by the date I took the shots.

Thanks for the replies. When I use MF lenses with most of my DSLRs the aperture of the lens has to be set to the highest setting, usually f-22 or the body will not recognize it.
I will just have to experiment and find out what settings work best with the Q.

When you are using a MF Pentax K zoom lens with a 3rd party adapter and the 1.1 update, what should be put in the FL measurement, the short or long FL of the lens?
And what should the aperture of the MF lens be set at?
Thanks for any input on this.

O.K. I took these shots of my grand daughter on a park playground swing when I 1st got the Q.
Didn't check and didn't realize that the ISO somehow got inadvertently changed to 3200!
But I still liked the way they turned out. |

Thanks! Just tried it with an Auto 110, 50mm, works great.
Hope there is enough daylight left when I get home to try it with my PK lenses.

How do you use focus peaking on the Q?

Thanks! I am really having fun with this camera! I am also enjoying all the pics that you and others have posted here taken with the Q.
To me it is just amazing what this camera can do, despite it having such a small sensor.

Here are some shots I got with my new Q. I have had it for about 2 weeks now and am learning it's quirks and strengths.
I have 6 DSLRs and a Pen E-PL1 and am really liking this little Q! It is so small and un-intrusive that most people don't even give it a second glance when I'm out shooting with it.
Some of the shots were taken in an antique store and no one seemed to notice I was taking shots, makes it a nice little stealth camera.
I also got an adapter for my Auto 110 lenses and one for my PK lenses, along with one of those LCD viewers. Still working on getting the hang of manual focusing with those setups.
Unless otherwise noted all of these pics were taken with the 01 prime lens. One thing that really impresses me is how well this camera does using the B&W mode. |

Hello all, my name is will, and this is my 1st post here. I should be getting my pentax q tomorrow and wanted to be a part of this forum to see how I can get the best out of this little gem.
I have been into photography since the late 70s when I got my 1st SLR, which was a Pentax K1000. The best way to learn photography IMHO is by using a manual camera. I have a K1000 now (not the original one I had) and lenses to go with it.
I was an early adopter of the new digital camera era, getting my 1st camera, a Ricoh that had less than a mp of resolution and cost over $600. But, hey that was high end technology in the mid 90s.
I currently have an Olympus E-300, E-410, E-420, E-PL1, Nikon D100, D70s and a Sony A330.
Also have a Panasonic DMC- FZ20, DMC -TZ4, Nikon S6100 and a Kodak Z990.
I should be getting my Q with the prime lens that I ordered tomorrow and am looking forward to see how it performs.
I have already ordered the adapter to use my Pentax Auto110 lenses with the Q.
As you can see I am very much into the photography hobby and am looking forward to learning what I can about using the Q and also interacting with you on the forums.
Regards, Will
