Ice storm followed a snow storm here in Michigan. Many people remain without power but it certainly has provided some unique photo opportunities!

Since this was taken it has rained about every day, taking with it most of the leaves!

My K-5 is giving new life to my old lenses. Here's one from my M -28 mm f/2.8 at 1/30, ISO 800.

Right, the focus screen is still needed for composition of course.

Looks nice and sharp. My post was directed more in circumstances where items being photographed such as a skyline is no where near the minimum focus distance .

I often read about focusing difficulties with wide angles in low light levels with manual lenses and am a bit puzzled with these statements.
For instance, if my desired subject are buildings at night like a skyline shot, my DOF android app says if shooting with a 14mm at f/5.6 then anything over 5.5 feet should be in focus to infinity. With a 28mm at the same f-stop, near focus limit is 15.7 and hyperfocal is 22.86 feet so anything of greater distance will be in focus. So I guess the question is why fool around eyeballing through the focus screen at all so long as the focus ring is turned to a distance somewhat greater than the minimum?

This is a tough call. I really like Samyang, having purchased their 14mm and 35mm. The rub is I already have a SMC Pentax-M 28mm F2.8 and while it doesn't have quite the glass and speed it is portable, offers decent IQ, and used ones can be had for pretty cheap. Anyone see compelling reasons to get this in light of my current ownership?

Sell the body, keep the lenses. To this day I wish I had sold my old film camera bodies earlier during the time I was out of photography. Now they're basically worthless. The tech improvements in digital cameras will make today's models obsolete, no different than what happened with film. At least you can still salvage some resale.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm curious how the OP took a screenshot of the camera display?

I'm still trying to grasp the concept here. Is exposure bracketing the same as EV bracketing?

More often than not I find M lenses underexpose somewhat, even if there's uniform lighting in the subject field.

Could you define 'buoyant'? I have 2 Olympus OM1n's that would seem to fall into that category yet in looking at eBay it seems you can hardly give them away (bodies only).

I'm not talking just Pentax but just about any brand where they weren't manufactured in limited quantities.
You look on eBay and I swear 90% of the film SLR camera bodies never sell, or go for next to nothing, and that's only if a lens is thrown in. Guess it's a sign of the times.

Guess I'll buy a few metals caps and try to flip them here considering all those who say it's a reasonable price.
On second thought ...

A couple weeks? Try months. Yes, that's the standard with them. Don't believe what they state about delivery estimates.

You must live in a larger market. In my CL area it's rare to find anything 'Pentax' at all.

Ok thanks. Guess I'll stick with jpeg for now. Wish I had the time like so many others seem to have.
