Hmm, you know what, that's a good point about live view. Maybe I'll take a few more test shots and view them on a monitor to see if they're in focus. Otherwise I may just bite the bullet and send it in when I get home. Fortunately I'll still have some time left on the warranty.
Thanks for the replies! :)

Hi everyone,
I bought a new DFA 28-105 a few months ago from B&H, and it's still excellent condition so it should be covered under the one year warranty.
The problem is that the lens isn't capable of reaching infinity focus at 28mm. I've turned on live view and slowly rotated the ring in the infinity focus direction, and it comes close to being sharp, but just doesn't quite get there before I reach the end of the focus range. It doesn't reach infinity with viewfinder autofocus, either.
At 35mm and beyond, it reaches infinity focus just fine. In general, this lens doesn't seem to have any other issues. No front/back focus, no softness, etc. It's sharp across the frame and throughout the zoom range.
I tested the lens carefully when I first received it, and I didn't have this issue in the beginning. Could there be a tiny piece of debris in there that is blocking the focusing element from reaching the correct position? Could there be a loose screw or something?
I know the best thing to do is to send it in for warranty service, but I'm currently outside of the US for a few months. Is there anything I could try to get infinity focus @ 28mm working again?

Yeah, I guess I'll take one at that price. If I don't like it, I can probably cut my losses by selling it to KEH for about half what I paid. :P

What a bargain! The IQ is pretty good and it's not too heavy for a f/2.8 zoom, either.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to embed Theta photos on your own website. Upload the Theta photos to Ricoh's theta site, and the visit the photo page. There's an "Embed" button right next to the Twitter and Facebook buttons below the image. That gives you some HTML code you can copy and paste into your own page.

I have to say, the rocket blower is really good to have around. It's too bad it's just under $10. Maybe a few rolls of film? :)

Hello,
I've located a larger version of the image with EXIF (attached). Seems it was taken with a Canon EOS 5D on January 6th of 2010. Unfortunately, no copyright information.
There really are a ton of versions of this with writing on top! Strange that so many people plaster inspirational quotes atop the picture but no one bothers to explain who the model is, where the picture came from, why it's special to them, etc.
Anyway, good luck!
EDIT: I think I've found the artist: Rudolf Kartelin, a professional photographer from Russia.
I found his image on a Russian forum and the poster identified Kartlin as the author in the post. SFW screenshot: http://imgur.com/JhZoJ9i
I looked through his portfolios on a couple of photo sites, and I couldn't find this exact image, but he does have many other shots that look painting-like. Overall his style is a little different than what I expected from this shot. I (and whoever posted the picture on this Russian forum) could be wrong about him being the author; you could always PM Kartelin on photo.net and find out!
He shoots mostly nudes, so ALL LINKS ARE NSFW (except for the Russian bio)

I had a Canon P&S superzoom (not "super" compared to the zooms they can pack now!) and I sort of wanted to upgrade. I bought an issue of Consumer Reports that rated cameras and the K200D caught my eye as being the only affordable weather resistant model. I happened to have a K-mount telephoto lens handed down to me, as well. I ended up buying a K-7.
The features that brought me to Pentax:
+in-body SR
+more affordable, better value in terms of price/performance (for both bodies and lenses)
+weather resistant
+all those great old lenses (my 50mm SMC Takumar is one of my favorite pieces of glass)

I ordered on December 28th. Original shipment window was January 18th - February 7th. It got delayed ("we'll notify you when we have an expected delivery date") on February 7th. Just a few minutes ago, I got an email from Amazon saying that they expected to delivery it on February 14th! I guess I won't be alone on Valentine's Day after all ;)

This is an absolute steal. I love my current gear, but I just can't resist these cheap K-01's any longer. Especially that catchy yellow color! :D
Thanks for posting this, doc!
