Just sounds like its the sensor having a shake to clear dust off. You can turn this off or change it to do its work at turn on instead or both on and off. Look in you manual. All perfectly normal.

Check to see what drive mode you have it on. The SR is inoperative if you have it set to timer or remote control.

Sometimes my subject gets a bit tired of my obsessive snapping. As this was the last straw I snapped this final shot just as she said "No more pictures!".

Nice. The best I've seen of yours so far. I've been following this thread from the start with great interest. Obviously you must have used a tripod or some such aid for the long exposures. Good also to see some other subjects from where you are located. I am not a huge fan of the stark landscapes of your earlier posts. (Maybe because I live in an area on the Canadian prairies that looks almost identical) Please keep up with the posts and I hope you keep enjoying your photography experiences.

Snowy day out walking. Snapped an image of some colourful berries on a very gray day.

K-30 in the rain

Hey does wet melty snow count?

I can attest to the fact that the uv filter and lens hood do help to keep things clear.

Just before I left work to walk home it changed from rain to snow. Without hesitation I brought out the K30. I have also shot with no problem in colder snowy connditions as well.

I will post some of the resulting photos once I feel confident to access the photos when things are dryer. Until then here is what things looked like by the time I got home.

SD card compatibility issue

I've been using a Kingston 16gb Ultimate X 100x sdhc class 10 card for about a month now in my K30 with no problems at all. That being said it was cheap $17 so I don't expect too much and I always copy the days shooting onto my computer. When looking for what was a good card it was difficult to get very good info about what was alright so I went for cheap over expensive and maybe not compatable. I didn't come across any info on Kingston not being Pentax friendly.

How many K-30 owners do we have?

Do this to make sure you can access all the inbetween ISO settings. Its not apparent from the manual that making this change affects your ISO.

Found this out from this thread-K30 Manual ISO setings

Custom Settings 1 -> 2. Sensitivity Steps. This defaults to 1 (1 EV step), which only allows you to set 100, 200, 400 and so on. You want to set it to 2 (As EV Steps). Then it will go in increments of 1/2 or 1/3 EV, depending on custom setting 1, Sensitivity Step.

I ened up with black because I wanted the better lens (18-135 WR) Would have gotten a color but also feelwhen taking photos no one will care what color the body was if the pic is garbage. So opted for better equipment.

Got a kit with 18-135 and really have been enjoying it. Also have a couple of other older lenses have yet to really get into using them much, but will eventually.

Hello, new member here. Wanted to post a review of a Takumar F2.0 55mm so joined up. I have been shooting this lens since I was 10 in the mid 80's on a Spotmatic (still have this camera but no longer shoot film) I have recently purchased a K30 and feel I have returned from a long sleep in the hazy dream world of point and shoot. Very Glad to be back. Had forgotten the fun of having actual control. Now if only I could find someone else in my neighbourhood shooting Pentax as well.
