hi, I think you are looking for a 3" LCD screen viewer loupe. There are lots of them on ebay and Amazon. One brand is HOODMAN which I think is too expensive. There are copies for sale which are just as good but much cheaper. Search this forum for more information...put 3" LCD screen viewer loupe in search function.

Charles, the Holga gives a very low contrast, heavily vignetted image...think of it as shield lens plus...and not in a good way. It's a very 'gimmicky" lens with inferior construction.. It came with a Q7 and 02 lens that I bought, that's why I have it. If you can get one very cheap, maybe it's worth it. i don't think it's worth the $20-$30US that it goes for on ebay

Hi 2old4toys, I just picked up an Albinar 300mm f6.3 mirror lens new from ebay with a Panasonic Lumix mount. This was done after admiring your Tokina hack. My question is.....is your lens secure on the Q with the hacked plastic mount? I haven't gotten around to doing the hack yet, but it feels like the included rear lens cap doesn't really secure/lock down on the mirror lens?? It's like most rear lens caps...just there to protect the rear elements and twist off quickly when needed.
To me it seems kind of fragile and might twist off/loosen when you try to focus the lens (my lens is a little stiff on focusing). I understand that your Tokina is a better constructed, quality lens than the Albinar and may not have this situation.
Just wondering what your take is on my observations and if you did anything to tighten up the hacked mount onto the lens??
The Albinar lens is surprisingly well made for the price I paid (US$99.00), and the optics are OK with kind of low contrast, small f stop, etc. Compare this lens to a Pentax 300mm f4 lens big weight saving.
I borrowed a friend's Lumix to try it out. I'll keep it because I'm thinking of getting a Pana/Lumix MFT camera. Maybe I can tighten up the hacked mount. If I can get it to fit better this will be another "pentax toy lens"

Hi 2old4toys, thanks for quick reply, looking forward to see more of your fotos.
A quick question..Do you think this lens could be used for street photography or is the focusing too much of a problem and slow to use it for that purpose? I wouldn't use it all the time for these type of fotos but sometimes you really need to keep some distance between you and the subject??
Thanks

I hope to see more fotos with this lens if possible. The flowers shots you have seem a bit soft or is that on purpose??
Thanks

As the above states Q works best with the #6 lens and 10mm tube. To see more macro info... go to Q forum and do a search for "macro tubes" within it. Then you can read the different options and opinions available. I have the Kooka and close-up filters I like both.

Heinrich, love the fotos, I'm jealous of them. What a beautiful area to live in.
---How are your macro auto-extension tubes doing? I picked up a set and found I have to treat them delicately. They work but not that really well made. But..for the price can't complain too much.

George

These lens hoods are really handy and I highly recommend them. I picked up a few of them to use while out with my camera. They keep dust, rain off the front elements and protect the lens somewhat from minor bumps and knocks. They pull off quickly and store in any pocket. Just be really careful about the sizes, diameters

Heinrich, I've missed seeing your Q shots, they are always interesting. I've been expecting early spring flowers popping up through the snow or something similar.
COME BACK SOON,

I'm glad you got that battery extender cord, it looks like a very rare item to find. These cords enabled you to keep them in an inner, warm pocket. I doubt if any camera manufacturer makes any such accessory today.

Most people do not carry around a PC to connect to and recharge their battery, they're kind of large.

Years ago, camera makers had battery packs which you could keep in your pocket or somewhere warm with an extension which fit into the cameras battery enclosure. This kept them warm and usable. In fact I made one up for my Canon F1 years ago. All battery based functions worked in subzero (Fahrenheit) weather. No idea if Pentax made one for their cameras, others will know better than I. I'm sure if you check on the DIY websites or youtube, you'll find out how to make one or adapt the idea for yourself. It's not that difficult.
But, as the above posters say...a good technician would clean and replace lubricants in the camera, after all even I need some lubricant for my bones and joints after all these years.:p:p:p

It didn't work for me. I pressed the battery quickly about 25-30 times with a fairly new battery, fully charged. Don't know why it would work for one camera and not another?? Must be the capacitor in the camera.

barondla and Sluggo....the quick switch works. It's a pain in the butt to do the switch, but not impossible, so thanks for the solution. Correct dates are back without hassle of re-entering info :)

Hi, It seems my Q has started the bad habit of losing the date after a battery change and needs to be reset. I looked at the old postings on this problem and got all sorts of theories. I really don't want to send it in to have an inner battery replaced (too expensive). I have left it sitting for long periods of time, because I use the QS-1 more often. So, I'm restarting this thread in case somebody has new information on solving this problem or do I have to keep resetting the camera? Has this happened with other Pentax cameras?
Any comments or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at this Craig's List ad, I'd be careful. If he only had this equipment for a year or less, he should have some boxes or original paperwork for the equipment. I'm not saying the cameras are stolen, but questions should be asked.

Hi barondla,
somewhere in the Pentax forums there is a post about the flipbac mounted to a Delkin 3" flip up shield. It seems the poster ingeniously mounted the flipbac to the delkin LCD shield, cover. This way the flipbac could be removed and also reversed for viewing from above or below. If you use the flipac by itself it cannot be removed once it's mounted. I can't find the post in the search mode. Maybe some other member saw it and could track that post down for you to look at. It actually looked like a good setup. Hope you can find it or maybe someone will direct you to the post. I thought about doing it but I'm basically just too lazy.

Hi, Cipher, nice collection. Two quick questions... Why do you use O-rings? How much more "grippy" are the cameras with the 'gun grip' texture added?
Thanks,
George

I forgot to mention that I keep the hood on at all times. It bayonets on and helps to protect the lens from bumps. Reversed, it clicks on out of the way for storage making for a compact package.
