I'm not aware of any rumours which I might have expected by now, other than the fact it's been on roadmap for forever.
In starting to think this telezoom is more mythical than the mythical full frame. I've been waiting for something to pair with 18-135 for so long now.
Fuji get their act together with the WR telezoom before Pentax, I might consider switching systems. http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/xf_lens/roadmap/ |

Welcome fellow Londoner!
Your shot of Battersea Power Stations is amazing. I fear you have outgunned my attempts! IMGP9345.jpg by Ian Kershaw, on Flickr

Now that is a fine lens on that camera, but it does look to me the same level of detail and resolution as my Dad's FF Nikon D800. Granted the Nikon has more pixels even than the K3 but my K5 wouldn't produce this level of detail even with a prime.

I have the smc FA f/1.4. I love it, but I find 1.4 is a bit extreme and so easy to mis the focus on a portrait and you can't fix that in Lightroom... I often use it around f/2.8 to give a bit of error margin, but there's something quite sexy about extreme short DoF when you do get it right.

I was a die hard JPEG shooter, and felt the pain of dealing with RAW and the space they consumed outweighed the benefits. Then I got Lightroom — I've shot RAW ever since. Lightroom makes the workflow so much easier and the results have stepped my photography up a level. As for the space issue - I've started deleting the rubbish photos!
When I was switching, I did try shooting RAW+, but it filled the camera's memory up so quickly in continuous drive mode. I think shooting JPEGs only still has its uses - if you can be confident of getting white balance and exposure correct, then my understanding is that it would be good for sports photography in continuous drive mode as it won't fill up the camera's memory.

I thought I should follow up as I bought a 94Mb Sony card locally in the UK instead. It's much quicker in my K-5 than the Sandisk 30Mbs one I had, writing possibly 2.5-3x quicker (based on my rough judgement of the amber access light) and gives me possibly 3-4 extra shots after rapid burst (was 19, now 23 or so).

Thanks guys. I actually found an Amazon merchant in the UK was selling them for about £27 inc sales tax and postage ($41) so I've orded one locally and we'll see how that goes.
Was a bit disappointed with my K-5 shooting a sports event recently - shot 19 RAWs far too quickly and it wouldn't take another photo. I missed a few key shots as a result, and suspected a slow write speed on my SD card which although it says 30Mb/s (the limit of the K-5) it's likely only read speed with write much slower.
B&H photo always a great visit when I'm in New York, except on Saturdays. :) The ceiling mounted basket trolley appeals to the kid in me. Maybe they could charge for a ride?

18-135 for me too. I took it travelling in India and worked wonders. The weakest part of my kit was really the bit between the viewfinder and shutter release! :)

If you've not done a wedding shoot before, I'd seriously consider doing it for free. You'll build up a valuable portfolio and it will give you a better idea of what to charge in future. The couple will potentially also have more realistic expectations with "free" pricing.
If you go on to do more wedding shoots through word of mouth, your free price won't be a price anchor.
If you're not sure about free, then do the shoot for free and offer the photos on a disk at no charge, but a printing service at a decent but not ridiculous margin.
However, if you're taking this seriously, I'd consider befriending a wedding pro and working as his second assistant (potentially for free also). You'll learn a lot more and you may well pick up work for the couples who are too budget for the pro.

Welcome from London! Congratulations on you purchase. I have a K-5 with 18-135 and whilst it has a few limitations, they don't hold me back - I love it!
For the freezing - you could check if you have the latest firmware. Follow the instructions here to find the current firmware version and if you need to update, get it from here.
