I always like fog in a picture and the general sense of mysticism it gives its atmosphere. Congratulations #9 on a great picture.

When using a manual lens in a modern Pentax, use the Live view to help you get acquainted faster with the focus and aperture. It will help a lot with short focus range lenses and it will get you to the optimum settings faster. I love shooting with an old Pentax-M, but it's really difficult to get the first few shots right using the optical viewfinder. I hope this helps other amateurs like me.

Any info on the forthcoming 130-370mm zoom?

Really? It seems like a big stretch. Do you mean cropping the photos of static objects/landscapes? My plan is to acquire a lens to capture indoor and outdoor events, such as family gatherings, school plays and games. Last on my list are the static objects and landscapes. Do you still think that the 50-135 would beat the native zoom of a 55-300mm?

I'm actually debating with myself on weather to buy a Sigma 120-400, a Pentax DA 55-300, or wait next year for the yet to be known DA tele lens. This is so frustrating.

Will a K5(II) + 18-135mm WR fit in the LowerPro 102AW?

I just changed my order from the 102AW to the 202AW. That should give enough room for any extra accessories I might need.

Thank You all for the responses. :)

Actually, according to Lowerpro's official site, the 100AW is at least 1in(2.5cm) wider than the newer 102AW.

I could order the 202AW, but i'm worried that my things are going to be bouncing around inside. At first I will have the K5II + 18-135 kit + M F1.7 + DA 55-300mm. I don't intend to buy anything else for at least a year or two. Well, except maybe the O-GPS and grip.

I was wondering if a K5II with the 18-135mm WR lens would fit in the Lowerpro 102AW, which has an inner width of 6.3in(16cm). Can anyone with the K5 or K5II + 18-135 be kind enough to measure the total length of the camera with the lens on, with and without hood. I need to know if I need to buy the 202 instead of the 102. Thanks.

Mine still says "Pending". When did You order? I ordered the K5II + 18-135 WR

Edit: I just saw on a recent post that You ordered on the 10th. I did on the 4th... what's up with Adorama?

And this is why I want to buy the K5II instead of the K5. The K5, even with it's great value, has had this and other small inconveniences through its lifespan. The probability of getting these with the new model, I believe are greatly reduced. What you are paying for is peace of mind and a newer and tweaked design.

Either Mother Nature is giving me a sign, or just playing a joke on me. As I mentioned before, this will be my first Pentax and every single day I hear of a slight delay, is a day in which I slightly rethink my choice, then I read more comments on the new and better auto focus and still the above par IQ, and I wish I had it with me already. I'm dying here. :(:)

Thanks for the comment/advice. Of course I won't be following professional sports. I'll most likely be in similar situations like You. And I think the low light performace of the new SAFOX X will allow me to get those extra keepers.

How slow is slow?

I have no experience with any Pentax hardware. The K5II will be my first. So, comparatively speaking. How well does it measure up against the equivalent models from Nikon, Canon and Sony? Which would those be? I'm thinking N D7000, S A77, C T4i and 7D.

The primary reasons I'm going for Pentax is it's low light performance and IQ.

A $300 real price difference between K5II and K5IIs for newcomers

I have a preorder for the K5II with the 18-135mm WR kit lens. I'm new to Pentax and I do need a WR kit. The problem is that I-m being almost persuaded to buy the K5 IIs. But it-s not available with the kit lens, which would make the change to the 's' model a $300 upgrade for the same lens.

For someone who already owns a Pentax and only wants the body, it's a real no brainer. But what about people like me? What are the chances of there being a K5IIs kit in the future? I guess I don't need the extra sharpness that much.

Adam,
Wouldn't it be possible that the comparison shots from the K5 where front or back focused and that's why the K5IIs seems that much sharper? I could very well consider a change for the K5IIs if this wasn't the case, and the K5II shows the same sharpness as the K5. I'm eagerly waiting for more comparison shots from K5/K5II/K5IIs.

Can anyone with both cameras take shots of a kid/person in motion, trying for a candid shot?

Oh, and will the IIs behave any differently noise-wise in low light?

Correct. I'm coming from the Nikon D40, so it should be a substantial upgrade. I wanted to know if the noted sharpness difference between the IIs and II is the same.

Adam. I preordered the K5 II with the 18-135 lens from adorama. I can still change my order for the K5IIs body and buy a separate lens. Is the IIs that much sharper? I'm starting to wonder if there will be any moiré after all with IIs. Please help. Did anyone get both the II and IIs?

K-5 II at Adorama

Why don't you post it on Sunday night? Please ;) I will surely need the most time possible to compare and analyze both cameras to see weather I leave my preorder from Adorama intact. I pre ordered the K-5 II with the 18-135 kit lens. So far, at least for me, the extra sharpness shown in the comparisons hasn't altered my decision for the non "s" model.

Call me pessimistic, but if there is a chance for moiré, Murphy's Law will come at full force when least expecting it.There will be times when I can pause my activity to check the photographs with detail, but in many others I won't have the chance to review those unique pictures which need to be perfect. If I trust the K5 to be a very good camera, I know the K5-II will be too, plus the added focus performance and better LCD.

This can't be. The main feature of this second revision of the K5 is better autofocus. Please do post your test results. It must be some type of lens compatibility problem, You could try with other lenses and compare AF speed.
