Pentax 645N CLA advice
Posted By The dog walker

I asked Eric whether he repaired 645N's and he said he doesn't anymore. So I am posting this thread to find out if anyone has a recommendation for a Pentax 645N CLA. I am just looking at the camera body to be worked on, no lenses. I believe all that needs to be fixed is some lubing in the shutter curtain mechanism because I am getting uneven exposure across the frame. Other than that, the camera is working very well.

Thanks to anyone with recommendations. I live in Canada, but I have no problem sending the camera to the States.

f-numbers for SMC 135 2.5 and 85 1.8

This may be a mute point, but I would like to know what the half stops between two lenses are. SMC 85-K 1.8: there is a half stop between 1.8 and 2.8, does anyone know what f-number that would be ... my guess is f2.

And on the 135-K 2.5 lens there is a half stop between 2.5 and 4 and my guess is that it is either f3.5 or 2.8.

I realize that this is not going to affect my metering that much, but I kind of would like to know just the same.

Thanks for whoever answers this,

Cory

645N problems with COLD??

I just shot my 645n in about -14 to -17 degrees celcius and it was out there for about 3 hours. The batteries seem to have done fine but I did notice the camera kind of slowing down. After I developed my negatives some of the frames had a solid line across the horizontal plane in about the middle of the negative. The line is anywhere from 1/16th to almost 1/4 inch thick and it is definitely not from developing techniques. I suspect it is the focal plane curtain lagging .... is this caused by the cold or is my camera kind of in need of a CLA?

Anyone experience similar problems??

I am relatively new to photography. I just bought my first 135mm lens, the K135mm 2.5 to use with my K1000. I shot my first roll today on Kentmere 400. I love this lens! I carried a #3 extension tube and that proved very useful for nice macro-esque shots. I love this focal length, it's super versatile for my style of shooting: catching action, landscape, nature close up, portrait, and candid moments at a reasonable distance away. The lens really is sharp, FAST aperture, and such great contrast. What a wonderful lens!!

k 135mm 2.5 hood - can i use the tak hood?

Hello to anyone who is interested in answering my quick and simple question. I have a k-135mm 2.5 lens and I need a hood for it (I am using my 67mm MH-RA hood for now with a step up ring, but it is massive on it). I can't find the original plastic hood on ebay but I have found a number of Takumar 135mm 2.5 hoods with the same filter threading - 58mm. Simple quesion: can i use the Tak hood on my k lens without any issues? My hunch is yes, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks again!

I started shooting about a year and half ago on a small Nikon travel zoom camera. Now I shoot film exclusively with pentax bodies and lenses, both 645 and 35mm. I develop everything myself and use an Epson V500 scanner to digitize. I just love the look I me getting with the old pentax lenses (although my new Fa 43 limited is simply a stunner!) I gave my K5 away so it would atleast be used instead of gathering dust.

Pentax SMC 24mm 2.8 Hood

Thanks guys for the input - I think I'd rather get the square hood and trim it because I am not a collector and in the Ansel Adams book, "the camera" he says square shaped hoods are better than round ones.

Has anyone ever used the more common PH-s52mm hood designed for the 28mm 3.5 lens on a 24mm 2.8 lens??

Thanks again!

Pentax SMC 24mm 2.8 Hood

Hey,
I have a Pentax K 24mm f.2.8 lens that needs a hood. I can not not find the dedicated hood at the moment but I have found a PH-S52 hood designed for the 28mm 3.5 lens.

1: Will this hood (which from pictures looks very very similar) work on my 24mm without vignetting.

And/or:

2: Would a regular wide angle 52mm threaded hood work just as well??

Thanks so much.

NOTE - I am shooting 35mm film ONLY, so no crop censors

Price dropped 10$ - nothing wrong with the lens except bent filter ring - surely not a critical factor

Price dropped to 515$ I am dropping the price 10$ each week - first come first served, the only flaw to this lens is that the filter ring is dented slightly. You could probably still get a filter on there. this does not affect the hood mounting. Very high quality lens - I simply use film more than digital

Item for Sale
DA* 55mm 1.4

Asking Price
625 USD

Item Location
London (Canada)

Item Description
With a lot of contemplation, I am selling my DA* 55mm 1.4 lens. It truly delivers some fantastic photographs, but I like shooting film almost more than digital and it doesn't make much sense to have such a high quality lens for only one medium.

I will trade for an FA 77mm limited and cash if need be.

Lens is in very nice condition, no scratches or marks anywhere. There does seem to be a couple specs of dust that are visible only under maginifaction. It was purchased new in August 2012 from Henry's Canada - I have 2 year Henry's Canadian Warranty for anyone in Canada.

The lens required a +5 AF adjustment on my K7, but I did not need to adjust for the k30.

SDM, although a little slower than most screw driven focus lenses, is quiet and smooth.

This lens delivers out of this world portraits!! I attached some of my favorites.
