Hi @Fogel70 thx for the reply. I'm not interested in using software to geotag in post. I guess my ignorance led me to believe that a tiny bluetooth hot shoe adapter is available to add to my GR.

Hi @MossyRocks , thx for the help. The O-GPS1 is interesting but much too big for my liking. I was hoping for a tiny bluetooth adapter that can sync to my phone. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic?

I have a GR I and really want the ability to geotag my photos. Not having this feature is the single biggest reason why I don't use the camera. Not sure if such a device exists or not, but is there a hot shoe adapter available that can provide geotagging via GPS or via a bluetooth connection to my phone (for GPS)?

Is asking for lens value feedback (i.e., "what's this worth") cause for deletion?

The current GR has been around for a while now. Has there been any word on its successor?

Curious to know if anyone would consider this lens today, or would you look to alternatives? How much money would you pay for this FA*?

I'll be going to the local motorcycle show this weekend. Last year I had nothing but the kit lens & most shots were between 18mm - 25mm. I'm taking my FA20 (and maybe the FA50) this time & am wondering if I should use a circular polarizer? The show is at the same venue as last year, so I'd imagine the lighting would be the same. Looking at those pics, would you use the CPL?

I really had metering difficulty the other night while snapping shots at a local game. My shots were either washed out & too bright, or simply too dark. I tried different metering settings but my surroundings constantly got the best of me
This shot closely represents real brightness inside the arena
As you can see the ice surface is way overexposed
Trying to cut back on the ice surface overexposure starts to really darken the arena
Finally getting the ice surface to look close to natural but this leaves the arena almost pitch black
What techniques can I use next time I'm at a game to avoid this situation? My friend was using a rediculously old and cheap Kodak P&S camera (3 MP) and it took great shots in full auto mode. Using the Auto or P modes on the K100 was an even bigger disaster...

Thanks for all the helpful replies. The lens in question is a FA*85/1.4 with an asking price of $US550 due to 'the scratch'. I'm going to look at it on Wednesday.

I'm looking at buying a very expensive (for me) used lens. The owner says it has a "small scratch on the outside lens that does not affect photos at all".
I have questions:
1. how can a scratch not affect the end result (i.e., the photo)? I mean, if you look thru a pane of scratched glass I'd figure you will always "see" the scratch
2. is it feasible to send such a lens to Pentax for repair? Can you have just the scratched lens replaced or would this 'repair' really mean replacing the enitre unit?

I bought the circular polarizers to help with reflection when taking shots of cars at my workplace (car dealership).

Opus9, thanks for the tips! I don't have hoods for either of my lenses, but I did order a couple figuring a pair of hoods would be much cheaper than the wife option

Ah, I have read the term 'lens flare' a lot on these forums but didn't know this is what is  How do I stop this from happening?

At first I thought it was a reflection from the car window (first pic), but the second pic taken outside the vehicle exhibits the same thing. I'd say 70% of my in-car shots have this problem, while maybe one or two outside shots had this problem. My FA50 did not suffer this issue (but it was not used in-car), onlt the FA20. Both lenses had the same model Tiffen filters (49CP & 67CP) on them all day.
What gives here?

Another question bordering on the ridiculous but here goes...
I received my (used) FA20 a week ago but only now have I had time to mount it. I am wondering if the small wider-opening extension on the end is the hood? I only have my FA50/1.4 to compare it to & it does not have the small wider-opening extension at the end (no hood I guess?). With not much effort I thought I try unscrewing it but it did not budge. Maybe I need to turn harder?
It looks exactly like the pic below: |

Christine, thanks for the Wiki link, most helpful! I was fooling around with my camera aiming it at my LCD screen with a white background & turning the filter. With the white dot at the top position my computer screen looks very dark blue, & bright white with the dot at the low (6 O'clock) position. If I understand this correctly, the top position is "maximum" polarization and the low position 'zero' (or is zero not possible with filter on)?

Thanks for the help so far :) Ernest, should I leave the polarizer on all the time? On Tuesday I'm going to a BBQ & will be taking shots of friends both indoors & outdoors & am already wondering if I need to remove it.

I noticed some of my water shots have lots of reflection. After browsing thru the many helpful pages here I learned I need a filter. I bought this filter for my FA50 today. After screwing it on I noticed the end turns freely & have no clue why it would. The enclosed leaflet is nothing but advertising. Hmmm, the Tiffen website says: Can be rotated to achieve desired effect. Uhh what effect? I don't see anything when I look thru the finder & turn the filter. What am I missing?
The second part of my filter question concerns my incoming FA20. Would I buy the standard or doubly expensive wide variant?
