I agree.

I'm waiting to buy a new prime lens. If prices don't change, I'll be looking for a used one, not a new one.

Nice idea.

My first digital was a Pentax Optio S. At 3 MP, it was advertised as small enough to fit in an Altoids tin.

This is from 1999, waves at Spanish Bay, near Pebble Beach, California.

Thanks for the feedback, wtlwdwgn! I actually preferred the B/W, too - I'm still new at LR and after getting it the way I wanted in B/W I tweaked something (not a preset) that ended up with the sepia-like tones. I thought it was interesting, so included it.

Driving up to Sunday River, noticed a sign for a covered bridge. On the way back to the highway, discovered the old schoolhouse.

We finally had an opportunity to get to the coast, so we chose Five Islands for an afternoon exploration.

Welcome!

Looks like the manual can be found online (I just put the camera into Google) and found a link to a manual at Pentax 105R Manuals, Support and Troubleshooting - IQZoom Digital Cameras

Among the first efforts with my new K-5, using older 18-55 kit lens (new lens hadn't arrived yet). Constructive comments most welcome!

Thanks!

Welcome!

I'm new here too (just a week, though I lurked here for quite a while before that).

I still have my ME Super and MX, and have always enjoyed them, though I haven't shot film in quite a while.

A simple question

Not to beat a dead horse, but doubling the area can be done in more than one way, and thus is inherently ambiguous. For example, 300x400 px (area of 120000 px) can be doubled as 240000px, but the dimensions could be 400x600px or 300x800px.

We (naturally) assume that the proportions of length and width will remain the same when we "double" the area, but it doesn't have to be the case. But if we double the dimensions, we know the proportions.

Just wanted to add a "me too". Just finished charging the battery on my new K-5, and have been walking through the settings. Hoping our rain in Maine will stop so I can get out (I know the body is WR, but my WR lens hasn't arrived yet!).

Just received my K-5 from BuyDig thanks to the post in the Price Watch thread. I see it is currently showing $829 (would be $803 if the code BGSaveACool25 is still valid). As shemezar noted, it was $819, so was $794 after code applied.

This forum is great!

Thanks for the welcome!

I've been lurking for a while (checking out the great info on the K-5, k-5 II/IIs, etc.), so I can definitely see the value! In fact, I'm planning to put some tips on using some of my older lenses from my MX/ME Super to work on the DSLRs.

When the earthquake (4.6, I believe) happened, we had just finished several days of repair work on our (long, asphalt) driveway, so it sounded and felt a lot like a big dump truck going down the drive. We even looked out to see why they had come back (and of course they hadn't!)!

Hi,

I've been a Pentax user since film days (MX and ME Super), but had let things lapse for quite a while.

Several years ago I bought an ist DL (when they were new) and have really enjoyed it, but am now purchasing a K-5 (original version - taking advantage of price drops). I currently use the 18-55 kit lens from the ist DL, and have a Tamron 70-200 f4-5.6. Looking at the Pentax 18-135 WR to go with the new camera.
