I know this thread is old but I thought I would refresh it anyway since it has been a while. I changed my LX battery pack NiCd to Nickel-Metal-Hydride per Rob Studdert's instructions earlier in this thread and the procedure is still valid. The nice thing is that the cell voltages for NiCd and NiMH are the same so that the charger still works with the new chemistry. Found cells by googling "3X1/3AA NiMH battery pack with tabs". Mine came from a company called batteriesinaflash.com although I am sure there are other sources as well, At the end Iof the day had a working mortor drive again.:)

The body that goes with that lens adds considerably to the price, but if you can afford the lens then maybe the body is no problem.

There is an exploded parts diagram at PENTAX MANUALS in the service manuals section. If you can make sense out of that, small screws can be found at www.usmicroscrew.com. Or maybe Eric Hendrickson can help. If all else fails, a box of toothpicks is not very expensive (lol).

There are regular Sharpies which are said to be water proof but really are only resistant. Then there are oil-based paint Sharpies which really are water proof and much more durable. I got mine at a Hobby Lobby here in the States. They come in extra fine tips too. Maybe that will be a solution.

I bought a Spotmatic in a US Navy exchange in Japan around 1970 which has the export stamp on the film advance lever but the face still reads Asahi Pentax. Seemingly there were exceptions to the defacement requirement for items sold to US servicemen at that time or the requirement had lapsed by then..

Scratches are cosmetically unappealing but it takes a surprising amount of damage to the front element before if becomes apparent in an image. The only
concern might be if you were to catch a sun flare off of the scratch. I'd say take it out and shoot it up as is, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Following industry practice the firmware won't be final until at least a couple of "improved stability for general performance" updates are rolled out. :)

Bit of advice - don't waste your time asking about products that haven't been announced - and try to come across as something other than a typically juvenile forum member.

Based on prior experience of a couple of years ago on this and other forums, Carlson and Ned know better than to try to hold an intelligent dialog with the forum members.
They were run off by the self-righteous Class A jerks that infest the forums, so you won't see them try that again.
