I know this thread is old but I thought I would refresh it anyway since it has been a while. I changed my LX battery pack NiCd to Nickel-Metal-Hydride per Rob Studdert's instructions earlier in this thread and the procedure is still valid. The nice thing is that the cell voltages for NiCd and NiMH are the same so that the charger still works with the new chemistry. Found cells by googling "3X1/3AA NiMH battery pack with tabs". Mine came from a company called batteriesinaflash.com although I am sure there are other sources as well, At the end Iof the day had a working mortor drive again.:)

The iron industry in your region predates the Revolutionary war. The entire region is peppered with old iron ore mines and remains of smelting furnaces used to extract the iron from the rock..

There actually is an equivalent product, the film duplicator. It probably isn't widely known or distributed though. Uses a Pentax flash for the light source. Homegrown solution is probably the easier less expensive way.

Whether it's too expensive or not depends upon circumstances. If a photo business depends upon fast Wifi transfer to be successful, the cost of not having this could be more than the purchase price. In that case, it's a bargain. :)

To be fair to the Eclipse manufacturer, I understand that not only is Eclipse chemically pure but is also filtered to remove any particulate matter that might deposit on surfaces as it evaporates. Substitutes might not have been produced with the same amount of care.

Google "Eclipse lens fluid MSDS" and a link to the PDF file should show up.

Chemically, Eclipse is simply high purity (99% or better) methyl alcohol, according to its MSDS data sheet.

The body that goes with that lens adds considerably to the price, but if you can afford the lens then maybe the body is no problem.

I think not as common as the silver version but not a rarity or big ticket collector's item.
Here it is quite common, as there is one sitting on my coffee table as I write this. :)

Guess I fail the hipster test then. Closest I can come is a black Spotmatic with a S-M-C 85mm f/1.8. :)

Yep, for me it is caused by reading a card on a computer (in my case a Mac Air), then removing the card manually without properly closing it out from the OS (right click on the card icon then select "eject xxx(card name)". There is probably a similar card logout procedure on Windows but I'm not online with my Windows machine right now so I can't check.

There is an exploded parts diagram at PENTAX MANUALS in the service manuals section. If you can make sense out of that, small screws can be found at www.usmicroscrew.com. Or maybe Eric Hendrickson can help. If all else fails, a box of toothpicks is not very expensive (lol).

There are regular Sharpies which are said to be water proof but really are only resistant. Then there are oil-based paint Sharpies which really are water proof and much more durable. I got mine at a Hobby Lobby here in the States. They come in extra fine tips too. Maybe that will be a solution.

Then do that and don't complain about the AF then.

It's official when the word comes from Ricoh Imaging Corp. Not before.

Perhaps. Personally I would rather see rebadged offerings from Ricoh rather than K-mount lenses direct from Sigma and Tamron. That way Ricoh gets the revenue that they can then roll back into new product development. But then I'm thinking of the long term well-being of the company, a rarity in these forums. :)

OK, thanks for the heads up on Cinestill. Their 120mm format 50D film has interest for me as well.

Apparently I'm in their demographic group because I'm a regular listener and don't have a problem with their style. I'm going to try some of the Vision 3 film based upon their characterization of it.

I had a couple of those potato mashers and seem to remember that the battery tray has a small internal catch on each
side that holds it onto the head. Squeezing both tabs together simultaneously with thumb and forefinger should
release the catches and allow you to slide the battery tray out the back of the head.

Deleting the thread will not undo the damage already done since the news aggregators have no doubt already scraped it into the database. Be careful what you write in the interweb, because what is done cannot be undone.
