Proper Fit Between the Adapter Q Mount and the Camera Q Mount

On my equipment there is an uncomfortable (to me) amount of rotational free play at this connection. The cavity on the adapter, into which the detent on the camera engages to lock the two in place, is a milled slot instead of the round hole one usually encounters. The slot is perpendicular to the circumferece of the mount, so that's not the problem. It just seems that the slot is a bit wide resulting in a sloppy fit between the two. Has anyone else encountered this configuraion? There seems to be a 1to2 degree amount of rotatation. A bit too much for me to give it a pass. I'm tempted to order another adapter for comparison. Any thoughts and observations from others will be most appreciated. Thank you.

I will order a unit with one of the shorter 70mm or 85mm plates, or longer if that's the only offering. But I'm definitely in!

What will happen if Fanotec determines there is not enough interest to proceed? Can we assess the level of interest on our end prior to actually placing orders and commiting funds?

Some news about Pentax Adapter Tripod Foot

Would it be useful, desireable and/or possible to form an impromptu "buying club" to arrange a large enough guaranteed purchase of either this tripod foot, or the Pentax model, to get a supplier's attention and break the "logjam"? One notion might be to arrange a 'block purchase' through B&H. I would like to solve this problem and get on with the point of the whole exercise - taking pictures!

Need help with firm ware update

Heinrich,
I also experienced some 'gliches' in updating my Q. I eventually connected my camera with the formatted card directly to the computer, transferred the download from
my desktop to the drive labelled 'Pentax Q'. Just left click on the dowload icon on your desktop, the dropdowwn menu has a 'send to' option, right click 'Pentax Q'. That
should do the trick. Good luck.

I became aware of the Pentax Forum after acquiring my 'Q'. I've used the site many times and decided I'd better join up. I'm kind of shy and reclusive by nature, but I think this will a good place to come out of my shell. I bought myself a Pentax SP500 w/55mm lens as a college graduation present in 1972. It was my only camera for the next 30 years. It taught me most of what I know about taking pictures.
I am really enjoying my 'Q' and look forward to what I'll learn from it. I was totally undisciplined about recording exposure data, etc. with the SP500 and am so glad that's all taken care in the digital age. In 2003 I bought an Olympus Evolt E300 and later an E-P1. Now I'm back in the Pentax fold and glad to be here. Looking foward to more.

Flinty
