Interesting discussion. I think I am a confirmed prime lens shooter except for the Leica 35-70mm macro. You can tell a confirmed prime lens user by the way he still zooms with his feet when you see a zoom lens affixed to the front of his camera!

Garden shots with K-1 and adapted S-M-C Takumar-Macro (Pentax) 6x7 135mm f 4.0.
Not the world's greatest macro lens, but more of a close focus 135mm that is convenient to use in flower photography unless you wish to create true macro images. Since this is a Pentax 67 lens, the K-1 uses only the center portion of the lens, eliminating any vignetting around the edges, and even at f 4.0 it is a great bokeh maker. It works well on the K-1 in Av mode using the Pentax 67 to K-mount adapter.

Bokeh at f 4.0 with K-1 and Pentax 67 135mm f 4.0. We planted around 106 dahlias this season, and could lose them all to our first killing frost . . . almost any day now.

Yes, Richard, I like this little macro every time I use it. 50mm is a little short for macro work, but it works great for flowers. Also, I find that it and the Sony A-99 (alias Hasselblad HV) work well together for fast and accurate auto-focus, which is an interesting feature for me because I normally use manual focus for my flower work.
The AF Minolta 100mm is also a great lens, and a more traditional focal length, better for most subjects, I think. Thanks for noticing my photos. ivan

K-1 and Pentax 67 135mm f 4.0 macro. This lens is excellent for flowers but not for macro work. It is more of a close-focussing lens than a macro.
