But in your part of the world, some man made things have remained almost unchanged for a millennia , like the ruins of Mainz-Kastel. I like a good mix of old and new, as long as the old is not decrepit and the new is not Brutalist or a bland glass and steel box.

Off to Colorado for a wedding of one family member and a visit to another family member who’s now unexpectedly in hospital. It will be a whirlwind trip, but I will grab some time to visit a few landmarks with my KP and the DA 16-85mm

Caravaggio is one of my favorite painters, due to his style I am certain he would approve of cameras and photography, even if he remained a painter.

I saw a lot of 20 and 30 year old hipsters walking around Montreal with film cameras, and at several events I saw that same crowd toting SonCaNikon digital cameras around , so photography using purpose built cameras remains an interest.
Biz’s comments make me think he wants artisanal cameras to meet a niche market. The three manufacturers he mentioned already do that and will probably do so as long as there is a market, and Ricoh at least will continue to add in improved tech when they see fit. Leica and Hasselblad probably have less impetus to make big changes since people buy those brands for what they represent and deliver.

Funny, many Americans consider some UK outlets to be more informative than those in the US.
In any case, I look at almost any media to be agitprop, designed to provoke a response, rather than fairly analyze a subject and inform the viewer.

Thank you very much! This is the type of scene I wanted to capture, one contrasting a cosmic event above a scene of human scale and with human interest, as well as a sense of place.

Good on you, that’s a lens which which I would never part. In fact I used it extensively on the K-1 during the eclipse imagery, I wanted a super wide or fish eye filed of view for the image I had envisioned . I just hope I was able to make an image worth sharing.

Clear with a few wispy clouds in Montreal. Pretty much perfect weather, too bad my photo skills were lacking

Merci, thank you.
Yes, we walked around Vieux Montréal along the waterfront down to Notre Dame, then to our hotel in Saint Denis, everything looked lovely in the snow. In Quebec City for a day and a night, back to Montreal tomorrow. Looking forward to clear skies on Monday. Right now the plan is to be in Parc Jean Drapeau for the eclipse

Arrived in Montreal during a big snowstorm, but the weather should be clear for Monday’s eclipse!

Arrived in Montreal yesterday during a big snowstorm. We had to sit on the tarmac until a gate became available because the airport was about to close and no planes could leave the gates. I didn’t mind because Bad Weather Makes Good Pictures and I captured more than few.

IIRC, the KS2 is at risk for ABF. Too bad, it could be a cool camera.
Get a KP, I love mine.

Very cool channel. Learning about the symbolism presented in many paitnings really makes me appreciate the paintings more.
