I have a Manfrotto monopod with a quick release head. This allows me to easily separate the two if necessary while transporting, storing, or using it.

I have often visited the falls on the Virginia side, great location.
For your image, landscape orientation would be better allowing for more flowing water in the foreground.
Also, the rocks at the waters edge appear to be a point or bend in the river, so taking 5 or ten steps to your right would allow the the rocks be an anchor for the eye, and a good alternative texture to the rocky bluff behind those rocks. The top of the bluff should be the top of the frame for this image.

Welcome!
Since you are budget conscious, I recommend you look here on the Marketplace, I believe there are a few used KP's for sale at reasonable prices, and since the KP is discontinued, it's likely the best way to obtain a KP.
If you really want the security and warranty of a new camera, and can't afford a K3iii, I think you'd be happy with a KF, because you will get very good results with the legacy lenses you have.

I agree, I prefer it on FF. That means I can still justify buyting the DA 10-17mm FE for APS-C ;)

“Seeing in Black and white” is similar to how one might develop a sense of seeing the world through a particular focal length.

My father had many years worth of SI back issues, so Iwas exposed to a lot of great sports photographers’ work. I think the value of hard copy media on a theme like sports or hot rods has a value in that it often shows a variety of images from multiple sources, and only a few digital sites equal that curated experience.
The downside of digital media replacing hard copy is that it has caused me and probably many others to treat images as ephemeral, I look briefly, then click to the next distraction.

I am considering the eclipse image I want to make. I normally just go and shoot, but this event requires some forethought iff I want more than a snapshot
I will probably be in Parc Jean Drapeau, along with 150,000+ other people.
Normally, I don't like being in crowds, but this time I want to use the crowds as part of the scene to give the eclipse context. I am visualizing looking over the crowd at the eclipse, maybe even creating an interval composite.
The sun should be fairly high in the sky on an afternoon in April, so I need to choose a slightly elevated spot with foreground hopefully a landmark in the background.
I guess it's time to learn to use Photopills or something similar while I scout out locations on a map.
I'll have to use a tripod/Joby to stabilize the camera and allow for long exposures, and I'll probably use some sort of variable ND filter. In order to have both RAW and JPEG redundancy, I'll take the K-1, and need to choose a lens, probably a wide prime, to start practice, though I haven't ruled out using a zoom. I'm not opposed to the idea of bringing both the KP with the 16-85mm and the K-1, it's a once in a lifetime thing that's probably worth the extra weight and space.
I'll leave it to the astrophotographers to capture the classic eclipse images we all have seen and appreciated from past eclipses.

Enjoying the Lensbaby Edge 35 quite a lot on the K-1. I had guessed that having a wide FOV with a tilt shift would allow me capture a large area OOF but emphasize thin focal plane and isolate the subject within that large scene.
I think I'd benefit from trying this out on tripod, and tilting and shifting a scene in something like a clockwise manner so I will grasp the change in the focal plane. This will help me previsualize a scene and imrpove the composition. It's also been good to be forced to focus manually. AF has made me lazy, and the K-1 has good MF assistance functions.
Overall, I am really pleased with all the Lensbaby lenses I have tried. I really want to try the Edge 50 and Sweet 50 out for street photos and street portraits.

Just for fun, I used a 500mm Mirror lens for backyard birds, then I went out with the 16-85mm. Great fun but In the end I used a tilt shift image for the day.

I appreciate the discussion. I stopped using inkjets because it seemed like even if we weren’t printing, the ink ran out. I use a laser printer for text, and I use a commercial service to print the few pictures I plan on displaying or sharing.

There is nothing wrong with finding a lens and camera combo you really like, and using it often. When you really become familiar with such a combo, you can relax and enjoy using it to its fullest.

Excellent lens! I really value my M42 copy. such a great FE lens, produces great image on FF or APS-C, and I think the built in color filters are useful and creative

After almost 3 years of remote work, I have to agree. My current job is more hybrid, which is much appreciated, but still takes up a lot of time, it's hard to leave the work at the end of the day and shut that part of my brain off. I expect it to get better this year. I knew what I was signing up for when I took the job, and I've learned that I'll never take on a similar role once this time ends.
