I'm currently sitting on £3,000 of various Pentax stuff and just wondering if anyone has a clue about the price point and how much I'll have to sell.

Two weeks ahead of schedule, if you want one quickly in the UK, get it from srsmicrosystems
Will upload formal samples when I head over to the NEC Birmingham car show on the 16th |

I've spent so much money on Pentax gear, I think I'm allowed to ask for some impartial advice, and Pentax doesn't make any camera in that class anyway

What do you guys think about 5D vs 5Dii? 5Ds with shutter counts around 10k run about half as much, and the comparometer shows that there is not much difference between the two...

Same, but I guess they would loose money over it

Don't really want to buy film at 2 quid per frame. When shooting landscapes I take a heck load of pictures from different angles. Also PP is important to me and finally I can use the 5dii/6d anywhere and for other uses should I decide to expand

So basically the IQ ranking is
24II, Samyang, 24I
I may wait for the samyang to be in stock in the uk. It isn't as sharp as the 24ii but it should have better corners than the mki

The ts 24mm sells for about £500-600 (canon 24 mm ts | eBay)
Do you think the samyang would give better iq?

Hey everyone
I have been interested in Tilt Shift photography ever since I started shooting landscapes, however, there are no tilt AND shift lenses for Pentax. The new Samyang may solve this but it would be too narrow (35mm equiv) on my K5iis. This is why I'm thinking about buying a used 5Dmkii and a Mark ONE 24mm TS-E lens. I could pair a new Pentax FF w/ the Samyang, but the ff will be out of my price range and the samyang is twice the price of a used 24L1. Is this the easiest way for a Pentaxian to get into FF T/S?

In terms of price/performance
1) Tamron 90mm
2) Sigma 70mm
3) Pentax 100mm
I have used all three. The pentax has a good build but the autofocus sounds worse than nails on a blackboard, not to mention that the other two are just as sharp. Choose between the 90 and 70 by what focal length you want. Both are sharp and have great bokeh

Maybe I'll go for a 21, 35 macro, and 43 system, all three are under 500 pounds...

The Samyang 24mm for pentax IS available for pre-order here in the UK at two different stores : I'm pretty sure they can't cancel it now as people have probably already placed orders.

While I was gone from this forum, I bought an M9 and lenses, as I love rangefinders and the benefit of full frame. I've also sold of my FA* 24, FA 35, and Tamron 70-200. I am now certain about my purchase of a DA* 300mm, but I'm not so sure about how to cover the 16-70 area. I mainly shoot 20-40mm, 8-12mm, and 300mm. I am thinking about limited primes (21, 31, 43) and also the 16-50, but I'd like to keep the weight down.
What I have
8-16, 70mm macro
What I am sure about getting
DA* 300mm and Sigma 1.4x TC The seller has them listed at 730 and 160 respectively, but since they have been up for more than a month I think I can get him down to 700 and 150.
Options :
16-50
21, 31, 43

Ok, here's what I have planned for my ff needs
35mm f2 £250 + 20% import tax = £300 (costs £500 in the uk)
43mm f1.9 about £400 + 20% import tax = £480 (£700 in the uk)
Sigma 50-500 about £900-1000
Sigma 85mm f1.4 £600
Sigma 70mm macro - got it
Tamron 70-200 - got it
So altogether around £2350. I'm selling the 17-70 (£300) 35mm (£110), and 50mm f1.7 (£30), also selling my 200-500 for sony which will fetch around £500. Also my Bessa R2 and ultron is about £400 and Jupiter8 is about £20
2350 - 1300 = £1050
I can afford that, but I'm stil unsure about the fa 24mm, it seems mildly sharp but the colors seem to be great, any advice on that?

I think I will splash out on the 43mm, If I find it up to the hype then I will consider a 50/85mm f1.4

Then I would just buy the 43 now then?

I am thinking about getting the 21mm as it's cheap and good, then selling and buying the 43 once an ff date is confirmed

Well, the FA lenses aren't that old. The coatings argument really only applies to lenses in the M or K series.

How are the FA lenses not optimized for digital? I just want to buy some primes that give me the option of using them on ff. I am just asking for lens suggestions. I don't want a nikon or canon and never will.

I am in love with my Sigma 70, it is super sharp. The fact that its ff is just a bonus. My 70-200 is very sharp on ff. I don't want to move to a hard to use and very heavy nikon or canon system which are inferior to pentax.

I am looking at the 43mm limited. I think 50's a bit tight for outdoor use. Maybe I would use a 20 or 24mm, 35mm, 43mm, 70mm, 85mm, and my 70-200?
Do you guys recommend the fa24 or the 20mm ? The 24mm seems to get mixed reviews but the colors look awesome. The 43mm can be had used at SRS right now for £450, and the fa24 sells for £450 too. I can't seem to find the 20mm for sale in the UK. The sigma 85 is ALSO around 450. I would probably invest in the 24mm first.

Also, what do you think of the Sigma 85mm f1.4, and will the 35mm f2.4 be sharp enough on ff? Would the 20mm f2.8 be a sharp option for uwa?

Is the pentax 50mm f1.4 decently sharp wide open?
