Saw some excerts from the new movie Cocaine Bear, and it looks like one of the main characters is wielding a Pentax ME Super.

Shooting film, the feeling of being an excellent photographer lasted until I got the photos back from the developer.
With a DSLR, that feeling lasts until I see the shot on the back screen.
With a MILC, I'd get that reality check even before I pushed the shutter button!
So many wasted shots that would've saved me from taking! 🤯

The Red Baron - Manfred von Richthofen - was killed in action in 1918. The swastika (on the camera top) was 'introduced' by the nazis in the 1930's. Are you sure you haven't been scammed?

Wouldn't in-lens stabilisation also make the job easier for the AF? I can see the benefit of that even on focal lengths as short as 200-300 mm. Even a compact lens as the M* 300 mm I can't hold perfectly still.

Soo ... The correct name for the Spotmatic would actually be Centerweightedmatic? Not as catchy as Spotmatic, but ...

I'm sorry my point didn't come forward. What I meant was that one can't compare the price of two twenty years old designs (although excellent) to the price of a new excellent design. ---------- Post added 15-10-21 at 18:26 ----------
Yes, but not at that focal length. 🙂
(Not for FF users, at least. Us APS-C users can have the DA 21 at a much lower cost.)

Oh, the hoods are compact, but effective. Andif you ask me, the DA 21 does a fairly decent job shooting into the sun. :)

It wont't.
That's a 20 mm. Pentax's 21 mm is, as you hopefully can figure, a 21 mm.
That's a mirrorless design. Pentax's 21 mm is a DSLR design
Now, go start using that brain of yours!

I believe the front element would need to be huge as well, to avoid vignetting on the wide end.

According to the lens compatibility chart linked to above, they can. KAF4 lenses don't work too well, though, but the OP's lenses should work quite fine.

Here you can find information about the LX and it's counterparts from Nikon and Canon. F3 and new F-1: Pentax LX - The Camera Body
What's nice with the LX compared to the others is that it's lightmeter works with any viewfinder you put on it, be it a 'regular' VF or any of the other VF's that were available, while the others needed the viewfinder with a built-in lightmeter.

No. It's a 15 mm. Put it on a Pentax Q, it's still a 15 mm. Even used on a 645, it'd still be a 15 mm.

I see your point, but frankly, from that position I wouldn't even have bothered to lift my camera (if it wasn't my son/daughter who took the pen :-) ). I would have stood behind the goal, so that I could catch the expression on the players' faces. Then if I caught the moment the foot hit the ball or just before or just after would have been of less importance, and I believe the viewers (parents) wouldn't have bothered either.
I'm happy if I can catch the atmosphere of the moment., and I don't want/need ten or thirty frames of the same scene to choose from when I pick shots to publish on our team's facebook group.
To me, AF is more important than framerate. I have a few shots that could have been great, if the focus wasn't off.
