A test with the Pentax SMC 85mm f2.2 soft, mounted on a K10D (so due to the cropfactor it behaves like a 135mm-ish)
Both photos the focus point is on the name tag.

I find the suspicion level rises dramatically when using a "real" camera. Was taking a picture of a flower one day in Austin, TX and a guy came over and started yelling at me that I better not take any pics of his daughter. I assured him she had "no socially redeeming value"*. Not sure he got the joke. He turned kinda' red.
______________
*For the international crowd, that phrase was part of the original US Supreme Couort definition of what constituted porn.

Not a fan of 28mm focal length but I really want a wide angle prime p&s! It took me quite a while to determine one (that is afforable)...every p&s seems made with a 35mm lens (Pentax 35 PC35 hehe) which I am not good at.
Seriously this camera is by no means pocketable. I feel it a bit more chunky than my ME-F, haha. But anyway I can get away with stop-down metering with s-m-c Takumar 28/3.5.

My grandfather got this camera for loyal service at work. He captured many of the event of my first 10 years of my life with it.

We are definitely rare, but not the only ones who are. On my frequent trail walks and attending volleyball tournaments, I am often the only person with an actual camera. I carry my KP to most tournaments and alternate between my KP and K-5IIs on trail walks.
On Monday we had some family members over to view the eclipse because we were in the total eclipse area. The only people with cameras, other than myself, were my grandson with a K-5 and Sigma 170-500 DG (which I gifted to him) and my daughter with a point and shoot Canon. I had a KP with a Sigma 135-400, a K-5IIs with a Sigma 170-500 DG and a K-20D attached to an Orion telescope. Pentax ruled the day

This one is just posing for now. I'm waiting on a shutter speed tester to verify/adjust speeds (I'm absolutely not one of those who can tell speed by ear). Otherwise it's ready to go. Looking forward to running some film through it. |

With all the talk about the coming Pentax half-frame, I decided to go ahead and get one of these to play with in the meantime...
The LOMO Chaika (Seagull), named after the call sign of the first woman in space.
This is the first model, without the removable lens. Later models have the same Industar 28mm f2.8 lens mounted on a M39 thread with a slightly different registration distance than the regular LTM.
These are cheaper than the later models since the lens doesn't come off, but I don't need another 28mm M39 lens unless it will cover full frame on my FED :)
It's a zone focuser with a limited range of shutter speeds (1/30-1/250 plus bulb), no batteries, no meter.
Shutter is a focal plane leaf shutter.
Aperture control on the lens is very fiddly and small but covers f2.8-f16, so I can sunny-16 up to ISO400 without overexposing much.
It does have a PC socket for flash but no accessory shoe.
Viewfinder is bright but really simple...
I have a roll of Fuji 200 in it now, but I have already ruined a bunch of photos forgetting to refocus the lens... sigh... that will take some getting used to.
The focus action is very stiff, and the whole thing smells like axle grease.
A couple of my zone-focusers have an indicator in the viewfinder of where I've focused. I miss that...
We'll see how it goes...
And the pin was a "bonus" that came with it when it was shipped from Ukraine... I have no idea what it says or was for...

Thanks! I'm hoping I can get something done, I really love the feel of this camera but hate that I've been burned so far with two SR variants!
Will do, I hope I can get some clear answers!
In a manner of speaking, yes

Hello, Forum
My MZ-S port covers have finally succumbed to rubber reversion and become little more than goo. To keep the contacts on the bottom plate covered I'd resorted to leaving the grip attached all the time. Of course, this eliminates one of my favorite physical qualities of the camera - its compactness.
My partner copied/designed some replacements for 3D printing the grip contacts port, grip latch port, and remote shutter port. After several many attempts with both resin and filament TPU filament seems to have the best combination of flexibility and durability. Attachment 631664Attachment 631665Attachment 631666
The portions of the pieces not shown are more or less the original shapes since that's what keeps them in place. Attachment 631663
The round cap in the photo is an earlier version of resin that had poor durability.

Yes. Don’t step on the parts when barefoot :D
I’ve also got the Saturn V. That was a fun one, assembled with my then-six-year-old daughter.
