You can get the SMC version from the norwegian shop fovi.no, but at a higher price than the HD version. That goes for the other lenses that are converted from SMC to HD as well.

When you turn off the SDM, the lens will focus with the screwdrive. If it still won't focus after the conversion, it probably is something seriously wrong with the lens.

Shooting film, the feeling of being an excellent photographer lasted until I got the photos back from the developer.
With a DSLR, that feeling lasts until I see the shot on the back screen.
With a MILC, I'd get that reality check even before I pushed the shutter button!
So many wasted shots that would've saved me from taking! 🤯

I believe the 16-50 was shown on the road map as a large aperture normal zoom lens or something in that ballpark. But after all it's a completely new lens with new optics, new focus motor (compared to the 'old' 16-50) and new barrel. I don't know how far they can go with renewing a lens before it's natural to put it up on the road map.

Most probably it's a variable aperture lens, yeah, but as long as the road map doesn't say anything about the matter, we can still hope for a fixed aperture lens. :)

The road map doesn't say anything about it being a variable aperture lens. It just states it's a zoom lens.

I have a similar experience in my relationship. Whenever we need a group shot of our kids, she asks me to take the shot with my camera, so I kneel or crouch to get a good POV for the shot. Then she stands behind me with her phone and gets all the attention from the kids, so she gets the best shots, while I get the ones with the kids looking somewhere above the camera. :hmm:

The Red Baron - Manfred von Richthofen - was killed in action in 1918. The swastika (on the camera top) was 'introduced' by the nazis in the 1930's. Are you sure you haven't been scammed? :confused:

Maybe people are just thinking the same way as me? I thought at first glance that it was incredibly cool. Then I saw the lettering on the controls, and realised that at my age I'd have a hard time even seeing what mode the camera was in. 😬
