Thanks all for the help. Spot on Lowell, I do not wish to use on-camera flash. Unlimited, I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of any P-TTL flash. Aside from my Alien Bees and Einsteins, none of my flashes cost more than $75 - used Nikon SB-24s, and cheap Chinese knockoffbrands like Yongnuo and Neewer. So if there's a less expensive P-TTL option, I'm all for it, but I don't really run across used third-party P-TTL flashes in my search. I've found used 360's for $120-150, which I'm ok with. adwb, thanks for the link - seems to be just what I'm looking for. Cheers, all, thanks for the assistance.

Hi all,
Let me preface by saying that I am no stranger to flash or lighting in general. My background is in film and video production and I've been shooting since before I could legally drive. Perhaps because of this, I find TTL anything beyond confusing.
I've second shot a few weddings recently, and I didn't dislike it nearly as much as I thought I would, so I've agreed to do a few more for the same photographer. BUT... I've done all of the shooting and lighting manually and I would like to go P-TTL to test a couple ideas that I have (also, HSS and second-curtain would be fun to play with)...
I was set to order a used AF 360 FGZ when I noticed that, in order to use off-camera, it requires the use of two additional pieces of gear - a hotshoe adapter and a 5 pin cable. Can this be correct? I can't find anything to support this and it would add nearly a hundred bucks to the order.
Thanks in advance for any help you could offer.

altopiet, mine was purchased new from B&H in February 2013 and I'm having this exact problem. After 20 years of shooting film in manual cameras, I thought these random underexposures were my own doing somehow because I didn't understand fancy DSLR metering (even though I've metered on film sets forever, I somehow thought I was doing something wrong...).
Anyone that has sent there K-30 in for this service, can you report on the turnaround time? I was quoted up to 5 weeks by the guy at the repair facility today (super nice guy but 5 weeks is insane).

I support this wholeheartedly. I don't even shoot digital (yet - K30 will be mine very shortly) BUT the things that led me to the K30 (in-body OS and my collection of K-mount and M42 glass) are barely enough to make me a Pentax camera buyer. I can state with certainty that I'll be looking at Tamron and Sigma when I decide to buy an AF lens. The prices on the DA* 16-50 and 50-135, which are what I'd most like to have, are just unreasonable for crop-sensor glass. If they were FF and compatible with my 35mm bodies, that would be better, but they'd still be too expensive. Thanks, Adam!

Thanks for the love guys. rbefly, I see you're in Denver - I spend quite a bit of time working there - in fact, I immediately recognized the shots from Denver Pro Photo in your Albums - and loved your shot of the Mayan. Could you recommend a place in the Denver area to process B+W film? I have a lab that I use here in Phoenix, but would love to have a good place local in Denver, as well. Thanks!

Hey PentaxForums! I arrived here in a weird way but I'm so glad to have found this place.
About a month ago, I was working on a music video shoot. The DP was setting up his camera, when I happened to see a very familiar sight - a Super Takumar 50mm 1.4, mounted on his 5DMk2. We began talking... I had heard of DPs using old manual glass mounted on DSLRs, but this was the first time I actually saw it. He was raving about Super Takumars, and I mentioned that I had a half dozen or so sitting in my house. Long story short, we ended up using my 135 on one shot, and my 85-210 on a couple tracking shots (I had no idea that this lens was so rare until coming here).
This experience re-kindled the still photography flame that was originally the gateway into my career working in TV/movie production. I dusted off my old cameras (H1a, Spotmatic, ME Super, and K1000) and went out and shot a roll for the first time in nearly a decade. I'm now pondering the purchase of a K30, since I've already got some good old glass to go with it.
Who knows where this journey will end up, but I'm thrilled to have found this place, and after a month of hardcore lurking, I signed up so that maybe I can help someone (or get some questions answered - I know that I will have many).
This seems to be a great community. I'm looking forward to being a member. Cheers all!
Ben
